The only reason people are posting dont do this, you'll get fired, is because they dont know the answer to the poster's question, and any one who posts such a message should be considered off topic. He knows if he gets caught he might get fired, and no, he doesnt care... Its just Starbucks.
Yeah, but this doesnt mean that we are the only planet well-suited for evolving life, nor does it mean that we are the best suited. Remember, theres a billion planets out there and we've been to, um two. All im saying is, we might not be that special.
If 'aliens' were colonizing the cosmos like rabbits and there are a billion suitable worlds out there, why would they want to come here anyways? I mean, why waste their time/resources colonizing such an abused world as this one?
More seriously, the big flaw in this whole argument is the same problem we've been dealing with on our planet. Even The Universe has a finite amount of resources. If there was some civilization capable of expanding throughout the entire galaxy, they wouldn't. That would only shorten the lifespan of said civilization, would consume all the resources in The Universe, and lead to the extinction of said civilization.
And another thing; I just find the whole idea that - we haven't found 'em yet therefore they must not exist, pretty darn naive. The truth of the matter is, since it's not possible to disprove the existence of intelligent life (Do we qualify?) in The Universe, we'll all be wrong (my self included) until we do run into somebody out there.
Then again, maybe we'll all find out Feb 14, 2012.
The article on MSNBC also mentions that police can conduct internet or telephone eavesdropping without first obtaining a court order. Why dont they just install cameras in our homes and work places, and monitor every thing every one does and says. It seemed to work fine in 1984
1)i guess i shoulda used the preview button 2)my sig sucks worse than yours does
Might as well make up a law for people who commit murder via postal mail, or telephone. Ohh, and those damned terrorists using carrier pigions to kill people too! We need that.
-sig ommited cause it sucks-
packet loss expierenced using tcp
A while back i was getting alot of CRC errors with tcp transfers. Just to give you an idea how bad it was if I downloaded 40 - 15 meg files, at least half would have CRC errors. I never recieved any error messages during the transferes and I used multiple protocols, client apps, even diffrent computers on my lan. I isolated the problem by replacing siemens speedstream nat router with a custom built router, and I've had no crc errors yet. My point... I thought tcp wasnt supposed to let that happen, then again, maybee i should just blame the router. Has any one else have simular problems with cheap nat routers or is this post on topic?
This might be a bad idea, but I can see one possible commercial application of this technology. Put a GPS transceiver in my phone, use that for orbital targeting of the laser, and when I'm low on juice, just blast me some more power.

I dont think the boy bands are the problem, they're just a symtom. The earth might be dieing.

I agree, ***but they DO suck***

I think that the idea of laser propulsion is that the laser isn't based on the craft, but used as a remote power source.
Is it just me or does the FBI have the worst copy machines in existance?
I think I'd be alot less skeptical if they didnt use all the non-sense buzz words.
