I see this everywhere I go, businesses running windows with one app maximized to the screen, running on a cheap pc. Food Places, Gas Stations, Department Stores, the list is endless. Each one spends $$$ to MS just to be able to run that 1 .exe that they use. Its my opinion that they ALL should be switching to open source solutions. Take Quick Trip for an example, lets say they have 1 million stores ( just an example )worldwide. 3 PC's per store, $100 per pc to MS so they can run that 1 app. Thats $300,000,000 to Microsoft. Good lord man. The only bad thing is, most if the time the OC makers force Microsoft onto the PC when its purchased. I forget if the are now forced to , or if they can offer OS-less systems? Anyway, take that example, times 1 million businesses worldwide like it. Thats a lot of money thrown our the WINDOWs (pun) .

You cannot really expect cartoon network to maintain content that please everyone, just look at the people praising Futurama right now.

I pray they never get rid of DBZ, that will be the day I go broke, or run out of hard drive space, obtaining each episode "off air".

It all comes down to your happiness. If you can use Mac OS X and get everything done you need to, that's wonderful, good for you! *BSD vs. Linux, does it matter? Does what your neighbor use really matter to your productivity or usage?

Both will exist, for a long time, both have a large group of supporters.

The only time to get upset is if your workplace decides to force everyone to switch from a Unix based OS, to an Win/NT solution.

BTW: I am getting Darwin just give support of its availability. I love supporting non-Microsoft software of any kind.

But my preference is Linux, either Slackware, or RedHat depending on Server or desktop.

98% downloaded, time to go play ;)

When was the last time you did anything without using Microsoft products? That is the better point. Stop waiving your flag of corporate America approval for a monopolistic company,

To me, its harder to setup my video card under windows, WTF man, you think windows locates, and installs my G-Force drivers for me? hell no! I have to go out to NVidia's website and locate them.

Some others have felt this strongly as well, and started these blacklist sites. Now they are being sued! WHAT GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO DELEGATE WHAT I CAN HAVE ON MY WEBSITE. All the site is really saying is, "a lot of people are getting spam from this address". It's not like they are doing DoS attacks on the addresses, or trying to hack their network(s).

The main point I wanted to make is that not ALL money in goverment is shared, they must generate revenue.

Also, some (albiet very little) money that they use does NOT come from taxpayers. Thus, them selling the software to corperate america.

I agree 100% in MOST situations, the world should be open-source. But when dealing with goverment software of this grade, I as a citizen prefer it not.

Hackers maybe no, most likley not. But terrorism yes. If they can get access to the software, they can become familier with every aspect of it. Imagine if they gained access to flight control software and then gained access to the NASA's network.

    Just my 2cents.

"Non-classified government funded software should be Free for public use"

    NEGATIVE!

Most goverment offices operate in seperate agencies, each acting as if it is a company. They sell eachother services, ect.

Each agency has its own revenue/expenses and they do not share "a goverment bank account".

As such, technology departments, such as the NASA division, must sell software instead of give it away to help generate some more revenue.

Trust me, you really do NOT want them giving it away.

Beyond that, there are issues of hackers/terrorists that would use the software to find security holes.

    Think about it!
