It brought my entire school district's network down, and we couldn't use the Windows machines in the library for about half an hour. I heard the printers were printing out garbage in the classrooms. But it didn't hit our Cisco lab, which was where I was when we initially caught it, so I didn't get to see any of it. Kind of a coincidence that this comes about 1 week after we switched from the Mac laptops to the Windows ones.
That's not always true. I joined a first-year team this year in high school, and we were lacking in funds. In fact, we didn't have any sponsors donating money until the competition was over, and then we only had 1 sponsor. We had 3 advisors, but the students did all the work. At the Pacific Northwest regional competition, we managed to place 5th out of about 40 teams, and also got the "Team spirit award." And I think the Microsoft-sponsored team didn't even make it to the top 8.
I also noticed that the movie refers to the "original event" happening in 1978, and then they talk about spending 25 years searching for the Light... But it's 2002 right now, and if you do the math, then "25 years ago" would be in 1977. Or else they're just rounding...

Take 1 chicken, put into pot. Pour in enough Coke (or Pepsi or whatever) to just about cover the chicken. Boil until the Coke turns to syrup. Done.
