I had given myself a task this summer and that was to teach myself PHP. Since i am fairly decent with HTML, it wasnt to difficult to read get the jist of PHP. I had gone to the local bookstore and found a great book that was very user friendly and it gave step by step instructions for anything you would want to write. The name of the book is "PHP:Fast and Easy Development". It is written by Julie C Meloni. I found it very easy to understand, and I think it is a grat book for anyone who has little to no knowledge of PHP.

i dated a guy who was addicted to video games.... he actually had better concentration while playing, and it did carry over into his job. as for a temper.. thats a funny opionin... he was as quiet as can be, and i never heard himraise his voice or anything, except for when i provoked it. maybe i was lucky in dating that particular individual who had too many boring qualities, but he was far from a emotional video game junkie...

i think the advancements they have made in the last 20 years on vision is completely amazing. I myself wear glasses and do not have the best vision. I think it is very encouraging that there may be better surgeries and options for when i get older, before i completely lose my vision!

if an employee could possibly be let go due to a money crunch, why would they hire him in the first place. they couod hire two emplyess making less money for the price of that one employee and possibly get more work done. nowadays it does seems like companies ar out to get what they want or need with no regards to what the person needs or wants from the company. this person just needs to walk away from both companies and start over somehwere new, to where he is appreciated and wont get screwed over by upper management.

if he gives in to the old company though, they may as well have won their battle. although he is offered more $$ thru the new compnay, does he really win out in the end. i mean there are more factors to a job than money. but if it is going to pay well, what the heck...

  8. calculators in school on Calculators vs. PDAs in the Classroom · · Score: 1

when i was in high school, a long time ago, we had to learn the old fashioned way on a piece of paper with a protractor and many formulas. giving kids TIs to use that act like PDAs is not the solutions. if they do use any technology, give them a plain scientific calculator so they can do the math in the formulas. if these kids are the future programmers, they need to know how to work out a problem, and not take an easy out and learn nothing at all.

  9. Cancellation Hell on AOL on Disconnecting · · Score: 1

i used to be an AOL subscriber until i left for college. i wasnt using it there, since i was on the university's network. i called AOL to cancel, and they asked more questions than my psychology professors did on their exams. i finally got it through to them that since i was a college student, i had no reason to pay for a service i wasnt using. made sense to me. luckily they only kept me on the phone for half an hour, and it was an 888 number. i wish these companies would let you cancel over the net. it would be more convenient, and save time for the consumer, and for the company.
