    Most people have enough bandwidth to even have video and audio, if that would make things easier for the team

    I have worked remote most of the time the las few years and it does work, and yes, you do need presential meeting from time to time, but those end up being quite unproductive, it's a matter of getting used to that kind if work

    as if Redhat weren't doing exactly the same, yes they employ people, but they wouldn't if they didn't needed them for the business, that's the beuty of GPL, not so easy to abuse the system

    you obviously don't use google too much, all you mention is already done at google search portal, and the visual search, well, the first hit at bing doesn't even work

    I have told the salary issue to a small startup, over twitter, and they felt ofended and gave me the "you know nothing" and the "this is capitalism", but at the end of the day I know they are loosing good people just because they feel too good to accept they are doing more harm than good with their "looking for geniuses but wont pay accordingly" method.

    That is a great point, people dont read small notes on contracts, it's boring, but programmers should read pros and cons of techniques they use, i'm not a good programmer but I'm a practical person and I can easily detect when a new normalization will be very clever and really bad for performance, same problem with OOP overusage, people should be more analytic on the programming field

    yes, it's a better, but not a general better, if automation were the answer to a better world, governments should be doing all the fabrics to make most of the savings/winnings and invest the money produced to make peoples lives better, giving free school and posibly even free high quality foods.

    somehow I don't see that happening any time soon

    it's so sad and frustrating that people can't see that simple fact, here in Mexico money was wasted to register every cell phone in order to combat "the mobs" less than a month after the registering was complete, the database is being sold on internet.

    I certainly know that is way too easy to locate a cell phone having its number, it was easier to register everybody's data than actually look for the reported numbers, and of course thet didnt made illegal to hide the calling number, just as does nextel, the company that gives (unvoluntary?) service to most of the kidnappers

    dont try to use common sense to respond to mexican issues.

    Militar ARE being paid a lot of monthly money from drug cartels, a few minutes in google could give enough clear hints (ammounts and names).

    100 yards from my house a 500 navy equivalent elements came and killed an important capo, in this city we have one of the most important militar base on the country, guess why no local element was used in this operation...

    in Mexico most rumors are actually true, we have a sick sense of humor to deal with adversity.

    that is an oversimplification, yeah end user is a big point but Joanna has been using this aproach for a while, it might be a little paranoic, but that girl knows a LOT about security, and we will be following her advices for a few year i'm sure

    no offense intended, you obviously didn't were at sysadmining before 2000, yeah, all servers were aix, hpux or solaris, but they we not that stable, much more than windows of course, but not a paradise, and it was dead simple to hack them, not to mentio a couple of magnitude orders more expensive.

    I do linux sysadmin and I have A LOT of free time, and the best hardware running my servers is dell, good enough, better than than and I would have no job.
