In the early 1940's, Japan learned an important lesson - "let the sleeping giant lie." We may not react swiftly, but when we do it's with unstoppable force.
Wow, this guy has some balls to be comparing a bit of video game hacking to pearl harbor.
And how exactly does a corperation, a legal entity have compasion? And who says it should? Other then "anarchists" and "communists"? I'll tell you exactly what such an entity should do. Act in the _intrest_ of it's consumers in order to stay alive. But there's not pretending to be done, it doesn't make any sense to say Verizon care, or even pretends to care. And I know there are people behind the corperation, but that is entirely irrelevent. Free market, as you said, is a beautiful thing. And will work itself out. Even the dreaded M$!1![sic]. As long as legislation doesn't dip it's hands in too far.
No.. They get could not get you for "just" downloading. That's the point. They get you for uploading. Period. No technicalities about it. And my comment about the parent was regarding an action done after downloading, which is a moot point as far as prosecution.
It is a i686, I thought of that too. I may try it on an extra desktop, but that was the only machine I had a reason not to use gentoo on. I'll just put Debian Cid on there again, it worked like a charm before.
I was excited about this for my old 350mhz celeron laptop. Unfortunately, on completely default install settings, it crashed and burned on the first boot. Back to gentoo + distcc.
So, ironically, when Linux has more proprietary software available for it, more people will be likely to try it.
I agreed up to this point. It's the fact that Firefox is no proprietary, and that people use it crossplatform more now that there will be comfort later. Same thing on a much smaller scale with things like OpenOffice.org. Proprietary software in Linux will not create ANY form of comfort, especially in the area's the rest of your post focuses on, which is comfort through past experience.
UT2K4 and UT2K3. Linux install packaged.
Enemy Territory. released for both at the same time.
These are so popular, it makes me wonder is you've even looked. Please keep such uneducated, uninformed remarks to a minimum. You'd hate for someone to call it FUD.
No, they made it quite clear in the IRC, and in the lists that it has nothing to do with core goals met. Simply wanted a new, more flexible naming scheme then "number of releases" which was broken anyways during 0.59.x
They are in talks to get the RIAA to support a format to make CDs unreadable in machines other than those running Windows (I presume this would include insecure versions of Windows as well). They are working to get the MPAA to agree to allow them to distribute movie materials via WMP which will likely lead to DVDs "protected" with MSFT products.
What will this do? Simple. Created the biggest push for piracy since napster, it's nieve to think this technology will do anything in the least to prevent piracy. Didn't work with CSS. Won't work with this. If you can watch it or hear it, there will be a way.
Though this isn't anything new with the microsoft model, screw the paying customer in their favor in the guise of anti-piracy.
i'm not trying to flame, but people waste their time creating a distro, most of them with nothing special/different to offer

Yea, I wrote my OS in action script. It's pretty much the best programming language out there. And I mastered it in like a week, it's pretty awesome. My middle school teacher is prolly the only person who knows more, but he is the one that taught me.

You can opt out of text message services. This is a really poor excuse.
Anyone else think this came just in time to remind those who got too smug regarding the recent linux local exploit? ;)

I orded them about a month ago, and I got this in my email last week: "I'm currently preparing the database to send the CDs" Looks optimistic.

Well.. this is a moot point. They wouldn't get you for the downloading anyways. It's the uploading.
I'll just stick with grep.
4. What new great features can we expect in the next BitlBee version? What lies ahead? ;-)
;)
Webcam support!
aalib? Oh man how awesome would that be, camwhores in ascii. But on a more serious note, well, actually, I doubt his was on a serious note
Shit. I stand corrected. Fuck. *ashamed* I hate you Celeron.

Say it with me.. G...P...L...
It's a catch-all for grammar nazi trolls.
There's a fine line between humor and trolling. And this certainly isn't funny.

Long discussion on name change. To sum it up, just because.
