well, as of right now the dvd-r one right format is the most compatible with everything, i know! It works well with most dvd-rom stand alone players, xbox machines and computers. dvd-rw has more compatibility than the other formats but isnt as good as dvd-r. also dvd-r media can be really cheap if you know where to look. $5 at best buy? i dont think so. allmediaoutlet.com will get you some top quality princos for 60 cents a disk.
as far as burners go, im using the pioneer a05, it burns at 4x dvd-r and rw formats but also burnds cd-r and cd-rw and reads anything.
IF your bored enough to waste money on a PS2 and try to turn it into a linux box then your pathetic. Might as well take that cash and spend it on a PC which is cheaper, may I add and better and also, Linux for the PC is free.
Next thing you know Nasa will be asking Russia for space shuttle parts.. Is this a good thing? What happened to technological advances on the space programs bringing technology to us? Certainly there isnt anything newly developed being used on the space shuttle which is all aww inspiring for us.

They need to learn that kick starting morale in the country will not be boosted with a lunar trip and or moonbase. What they need to do much like what our space administration needs to do is GO TO FREAKING MARS.
Space is for exploration of strange new worlds where no man has gone before.
Not for correcting our envirnmental problems. IF they are along the way then thats ok.
