I've used Mac since 9, and upgraded to X at around 10.1. Before that I used 95, and attempted Linux (but my shitty old computer didn't want to play - damn CD-Rom drives of that time).
I love 10.1 (and hopefully 10.3 once I can find 70 to drop for the students edition) - I can do 'boring' stuff on it, like run Word or Powerpoint. I can do arty / photographic things on there (Photoshop), and also run Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl to develop websites.
In addition thanks to Fink I can use debian style package management tools with ease. Damn good OS.
Yes, used it for about 4 years doing corporate stuff (a few intranets and websites). I used it a fair bit helping a mate out with an ASP+Access powered Ultradev project (a nightmare). I also used it on my website - and it was a right royal pain in the ass.
Then I got my act together and downloaded an open source blogging / content management system and I just customise it for my purposes.
I've still got version 4 kicking about on my Mac, but I find it more convenient just to open BBEdit or an editor (I use pico and emacs in equal amounts depending on the task) and brew up either some HTML or PHP.
Surely it's the other way round. What they are doing just has to be illegal... Libel, defamation, false advertising, being a general shithead. Come on Linux community - the legal system is your oyster to deal with this little Darl McBride bug.
There was an excellent BOFH article a bit like that recently - Bastard and PFY make 'Intranet Survivor' where people get booted out if their popularity scores get too low.
Here
Yeah but the common law definition describes it as robbery on the high seas. Well, the majority of KaZaA users are not on the high seas, and the act of grabbing an eBook or MP3 is not robbery as it lacks the 'theft plus violence' required for it to be robbery. Nobody could say that the KaZaA user at the other end of my modem whom I downloading Britney Spears.mp3 from is going to fear or apprehend violence before or during the act of theft, so it can't be robbery.
Theft in my country (UK) is dishonestly appropriating property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it. If I copy an MP3 from my friend I can't be permanently depriving the other of it as they still have their copy but I now have my copy. Therefore it's not theft so it technically can't be robbery.
No the only thieves are the RIAA/MPAA bumbandits who are running off with the word "piracy" and using it to describe an act of copying information when it really means a robbery on the high seas.
<I>"Don't so fast to dismiss capitalism, it's not a perfect system, but it beats socialism by a head."</I>
Capitalism has as many casualties as socialism which is why the most succesful countries in the world use a mixture of capitalist and socialist economic models. There are no pure capitaist countries and no pure socialist countries - they all fall somewhere in between. They aren't "competing" systems, they are complementary systems because the downfallings of one is paid back by the advantages of the other and vice versa. Having a democracy (either direct or representative) helps this because the people can model their economics and politics in the same way - a homeless guy is going to have a different perspective on the socialism/capitalism debate from a rich media mogul.
My opinion is that I support socialism in as much as it helps people and capitaism in as much as it helps people. When one stops helping people (through keeping them out of work, or preventing innovation) then it is time to lean the other way.
You know the old saying "the world will keep on trying to produce a bigger idiot"? It's true. I know people who have trouble checking their email. And some of them are intelligent people hoping to become teachers and doctors and own businesses. It's horryfing.
"I fail to see how it's any more difficult than email or Google."
That is, I believe, the point. Most people are idiots who can't even work out how to check email. They pull their hair out at the sounds of "POP3" or "IMAP4" let alone "NNTP".
Why not just set up "booths" and let people find it themselves? I mean... just open up a Hotmail account and you've already got a lifetime supply coming in from all sorts of nice people the world over. In addition, there are various friendly Nigerian people who can help you with your finances...
Password changing, backups, and just checking that you haven't done an 'oopsie' (everyone does occasionally, even the leetest of the leet make mistakes).
Personally, I'll probably grab some backups of the SQL db, change my root passwords, take a few bits offline for a day or two (unimportant stuff that's barely worked on)
If it's growing so fast over here in Europe, why can I still not find a free wi-fi point outside of my University library?
No, it's an old copy of Photoshop 6 that I run under Classic.
And it's 70 UKP. Which is a fair bit more than 70 USD.

in a human readable (Google HTML translation) here
1. Start eBay auction.
2. ???
3. PROFIT!!
Insert a clever reference about the difference between oblique and purposive intent

Dreamweaver can be replaced with a copy of the XHTML standards and a copy of emacs or $editor of your choice.
"one red cent"
What are you? Some kind of Red? Go back to Russia or neo-Russia (Canada), you filthy hippie.

Troll maybe, but I'll bite this one...

"Blogs aren't quality content"
Blogs are as good or bad as you want them to be. In the same way that books, CD's, USENET entries, Slashdot stories.
How can you decry a whole media as lacking quality? Blogs are as good or bad as the person who writes it.

Ever used LiveJournal.com? That's where they've gone... See http://www.ljdrama.org for more!

No - the point is that "Bob" spends more time ferreting around alt.sex.bestiality.barney than he does in his inbox. It's not an accident, I tells you!
Kinda reminds me of this story from the deep dank archives of BSD history.

GNU/Morse?
I'm waiting for the full Nigerian 411 scam to come out in Morse. With the phony banker's son thing. That would roxorz.
It's everbody's worst dreams come true - trinary.

But if you tell the fire and police department (eg. sysadmins) the day before, they're unlikely to use them.
