  1. Maybe an Alien turned it back on for us! on Satellite Back From The Dead · · Score: 2, Funny

LOL. I guess the SETI project may actually turn up something after all.

  2. This may just be a ploy. on 'White Box' Makers Take Up The Slack · · Score: 1

AMD and Intel have to make certain targets on Wallstreet. Wallstreet knows how much demand is out there based on what HP, IBM, and DELL can sell. So that means that AMD's and Intel's stock prices are tied to those companies.

Now what if Intel and AMD say that HP, IBM, and DELL only account for 65% of computer sales? That means they have more of a market and Wallstreet can start raising AMD, and Intel's stock price!

  3. Client Side Security Doesn't work! on Microsoft's 'Palladium' Privacy/DRM Scheme · · Score: 2, Insightful

According to the book "Hack Proofing you Network", client side security is fundementally flawed and will always eventually be broken.
The reason for this is that the person owns the client and if they can spend the time, they can over-ride any security implementation. Just look at the X-Box.

No I actually miss-typed. I meant I haven't had sex since my mid 20's and I didn't even get to climax because she thew me out.

You stupid jack ass! I'm not going to feel too badly about this because at least I'm not a fat pig with a one inch uncircumcised dick you stupid old fucker.

I didn't do anything to you and I was making a joke! If your ass is so hairy and your head so stupid for you to moderate me down for that, then I'm surprised Darwin hasn't caught up to you yet. Oh, wait a minute, no chick will want you anyway.

  6. Now I can build her. on OGRE GPL'ed 3D Engine · · Score: 1

Now I can build a virtual 3D woman on my linux system. THANK YOU. I have had sex only once in my life, and that was when I was in mid 20's (No Joke). I LOVE technology! I almost had to buy ALIAS|Wavefront or Softimage[god forbid]!

  7. This is good for chess and computing on Distributed Chess Computing Project · · Score: 1

Computers are already better at chess than Gary Kasprov, and as we go along in time they will solve problems in medicine, and chemistry that humans could never solve.
Linux has a bright future because the future computing systems will be so robust and functional that it would not be practical or economical for companies to create their own OSs.
Everyone will settle on Linux eventually because it is free and everyone can improve it. Remember a lowely patent clerk reinvented modern physics and if the Physics world operated on the same model as Microsoft we would still be operating on Newton's principles.

  8. Karma killer on The Almighty Buck · · Score: 0, Offtopic

  10. Unfortunatly thats what happens on Beijing Newspaper Spoofed by The Onion · · Score: 1

Most of us take critical thinking for granted, but in communist countries the government tells you what to think. So when they read something in the newspaper, to them it is true. How sad.

  11. Open Source if free :-) on 'Unbreakable Linux' · · Score: 1

While I think this is good because it gives Linux credibility in the business world, I don't think Oracle can compete price wise to PostgreSQL which is free. Alot of the companies that are making money like google use open source extensively. From my experience open source is so good that you really don't need to spend any money on software anymore. I certainly don't. Remember alot of the developers who work on open source stuff have PhDs from the best universities. It is crazy how many companies won't use open source software because it's free, because you would think they would jump at the chance to save money.

  12. Monopolies raising rates. on Preventing Broadband Price-Gouging? · · Score: 1

This is supposed to be commodity pricing where rates go down as they pay of the investments in laying the fiber. Also what is the deal with the dial-up accounts going up in price? This is just terrible.

  13. This will have a terrible effect on the internet on Media Giants to Join Dow-Jones Libel Appeal · · Score: 2, Insightful

The internet is getting way too commercial. Once everything becomes overproduced and over packaged with boring corporate stuff and legal requirements, no one will want to go online. This just prevents people from expressing ideas, and quite soon, the web will be as interesting as a Mac Donald's wrapper. The best part of the net is being able to speak your mind and download free stuff.

  14. It shouldn't really be a problem. on Spoofing URLs With Unicode · · Score: 1

If you purchase something online, they usually redirect you to an https connection. The site has to go through verisign or someother certificate authority or else your browser will warn you. This is not a serious problem. :-)
