>I consider the phone essential for emergency use
Where I live you can dial 911 even if you don't have service. Because of this my cell phone will do just fine.

I get to use internet pretty much as much as i want during the day at work. I also use a cell phone for all my calling needs so I don't even have a land line at home. This makes taking the plung into any internet at home just too much. no matter what i do i'm out $40-50 a month.Let's break it down.
Phone line: @$30+/month
ISP: @$10/month
total=$40+/month
cable internet: $40/month
cable modem: $10.00/month
total: $50/month
that's just too much for a non necessity. i think this is going to be a bigger and bigger problem as people start to dump the land line in favor of a cell phone. just a thought.

no one is indespensible. as soon as you start thinking you are you'll learn otherwise. i had a couple of people working for me that thought that and as soon as i found replacements they were gone. there is a lot of talent out there and people who think that they're the most important cog in the wheel are just a cancer to everyone else. just remember, if you have a good job chances are there is usually at least 1 qualified person willing to work harder for less $$$.

i've never had a good outcome when accepting a counter offer. usually the company that's making the counter offer is just trying to keep you on until they can replace you. if they don't replace you then you'll probably not get very good raises for a while unless you start looking again, and that only works so many times before they'll replace you. chances are if you take the other position you would end up making more after 6 months to a year anyway.

for that analogy to work a tank of gas would have to cost about 20-80% of the price of the car. if that's the case you're really getting screwed on gas or you must drive one hell of a hoopty. iceperson
p.s.
every car i've ever bought had a full tank of gas.
dunno... but if you find out where one can apply let us know :)
"reality is they bomb (preemptive strikes) anyone they please"
I didn't know that Clinton was a Republican. That brings me back to the all important question... does CAT really spell DOG?
