  1. Re:It cant be free forever but on EFF Lawyer Argues For Compulsory Music Licenses · · Score: 2, Insightful
What the EFF guy doesn't seem to grasp is that the entertainment cartels don't give a F*** whether artists eat or starve. They only care about their Jaguars, their vacation homes on tropical beaches, and their cocaine. They are leeches.

In the future, a new licensing model might help artists get compensated for their work, the very purpose of copyright, but first, we need to get the parasites out of the recording industry. To do that, we must boycott their products.

  2. Re:3. Profit! on Fox Sues Over Reuse Of Public-Domain Documentary · · Score: 2, Insightful

This film was in the public domain, and the edit of it was indeed produced by Dastar. They can put their names on it, but so can anyone. Disney takes fairy tales and legends from the public domain, and puts their names on them without giving credit to Hans Christain Anderson, The Brothers Grimm, or their other sources. How is this any different. The supreme court needs to tell fox F*** you, and the horse you rode in on, but they probably won't Fox is a corporate giant who can grease palms and get their way, just like Disney, and Dastar isn't.

Even if the economy weren't in the dumper, corporate America wouldn't bother with R&D, unless they had a government grant. All executives care about is robbing and looting companies to make themselves rich, and R&D cost a lot of money. Greed for greed's own sake has destroyed the US economy. What we are experiencing now could be the second great depression.

Deregulation is a license to rob and loot. You give the corporations such licenses, and they will use them just like Enron, Worldcom, Clear Channel, and the like.
