starcraft is just a glorified ripoff of warhammer 40,000.

In case you dont notice right away, tyranids == zerg, space marines == terrans, eldar == protoss.
CG just simplifies shader programming on a GPU level. No more ASM, etc. Nvidia is pushing CG by making plugins for software like 3dsmax and Maya so one can see what the end result will be without having to export a model from a given piece of software.
Doesn't nvidia's CG fix most of your problems? They (nvidia) are creating plugind for maya and 3dsmax so that one can see the final product in the viewport.
If you dont want to wait for Nvidia, try out Softimage|XSI as it comes with some very robust tools for creating shaders for use in video games (yes it really looks like it would in your game). Check this out for more info:

ummm.... T&L DID revolutionize the game industry. We are at a point where companies dont have to worry about pushing polygons. Now they are finally moving on to actually improving visual quality, as opposed to geometric complexity.Have you seen what ID has been up to lately?
ummm....I dont think he meant to say that Maya or Softimage are names of companies. Rather that Apple may want to make these apps Mac exclusive (as Maya allready runs on macOSX).
Also keep in mind that Avid is doing very poorly in terms of finances, and that Softimage has changed hands MANY times. Microsoft even owned it at one point. Shocked? You wouldnt be if you got your facts straight.
Why doesnt anyone cry foul when Apple does things like this? It seems that Apple is positioning itself for a monopoly. I say this because they are trying to gain an unfair advantage over their competitors by making it so that if people want to use compositing software then they also have to buy a Mac.
Some may also argue that this runs parallel to the course of action taken by Microsoft when they purchased Softimage. This is a faulty argument due to the fact that Softimage went from a niche market platform (IRIX/SGI), and straight to a well established platform found on many differant systems. This paved the way for many other apps to follow. Did anything besides competition force maya to go NT? No. No matter how evil Microsoft's tactics are, you cant argue that they were not for the better for the whole CG community.
What apple is doing is quite the opposite. They are taking software AWAY from a well established platform, and forcing people to buy into their niche market.
Mac users must learn to have a more utilitarian view of things. Just because apple is their platform of choice, doesnt mean it's everybody elses.
Why do people tweak? It is because they feel that theyre power as a consumer is limited. Nintendo didnt include a large and nicely lit screen due to the fact that they needed to meet a price range so that the GBA could be accessible to everyone. This creates a problem for so called "hardcore" games because they dont even get an option for the features they want. Imagine being stuck with the same computer model as everyone else because some company *AHEM* *APPLE* *COUGH* decides that's the way things should be.
Are you into computer graphics design/programming at all? Im planning on getting four of these when they come out so I can run Entropy (a renderman compliant renderer, www.exluna.com) at blazing speeds. At least that's my excuse.

If anything, this will just get more people interested in Warhammer.
So when do we get to see former Worldcom employees bare all in Playboy?

ummm....that's great and all, but there arent any Renderman compliant renderers which run on a Mac.
3d Studio Max isnt a company....its a software package developed and distributed by Discreet (www.discreet.com).

No, the portable Sega Genesis was the Sega Nomad. The gamegear was indeed a portable master system. Get your facts straight.....
