What we (Linux community) really need is a simple way to get stuff working (sort of like Windoze? AAHCK)? While I do not have any major problems getting my stuff working, I cannot see my mom compiling the latest emu10k module and actually inserting it. HUH?

What is becoming of slashdot? Does the use of the word censor REALLY cause heartache in this many people? So what if it was not used correctly (which I'm not even sure of). The guy was just trying to make a point. This entire thread was supposed to be about Linus' trademark of Linux anyway, but it has instead turned into (yet again) a stinking pool of "Look at me dad. Look what I can do."
This article really grabbed my interest. I was hoping to see some intelligent comments on a topic I really do not know too much about. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Maybe next time (or maybe not:-( ).

The grey aliens flying a huge purple and pink santa sley (being pulled by 200 orange penguins) have landed in the middle of Roppongi (huge party district in Tokyo) on top of the GasPanic Club 99. They exited the ship and began distributing Elvis key holders to the masses all the while screaming, "Akemashite Omedeto-gozaimasu!!"

I guess that is really what I meant by "bad actor." He is, to me, like the Denzel Washington of comedy. Whenever I see Denzel play a role, it's always DENZEL I see... not his character (unlike Billy Bob Thorton, which amazes me EVERYTIME).
Maybe this movie will change my mind, but I doubt it will.

I'm sorry. I have to disagree. I think Jim Carrey is perhaps one of the most over hyped "actors" of the nineties. Not only is he a BAD actor, but he is not very funny. Maybe I'm being hard on the guy, but come on... The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and The Cable Guy (to name a few) were simply horrible movies that aren't even worth $1.25 from the "JACKED UP, WATCHED 427 TIMES, LEFT ON THE DASH OF MY CAR IN THE HOT DESERT SUN (that little dot's not white anymore)" section of Billy Bob's Bar, Gas, and Video Rental Shack.

Ummm... don't you think you were just a tad-bit too hard! This whole thing (/.) started off as a couple of college guys with too much time on their hands;-) and has turned into (in my opinion) one of the best OS/Technology/general-geek-stuff websites in the world. As someone earlier in this thread mentioned, it's not like they retracted this story 2 months later with a small print blurb on page 107 (as most "respectable" print publications do)!
