Interesting. In the USA it is definitely a rule. Just check a Harbrace, which can be found at any university bookstore (ummm, in the USA, at least).

Sorry, but your entire post has been invalidated due to a misplaced period (they go inside the quotation marks).

If I didn't have bad karma, I wouldn't have no karma at all.

Man, it sounds both stupid and brilliant, which is to say "uselessly novel."

Nevertheless, I decided to sign up just to see what the fuss was about, but immediately I was told my email address, my perfectly-valid-been-using-it-for-years email address, was invalid. My guess is they have snippet of bad javascript regex code they use to "validate" email adresses, but they either nabbed it off the internet without bothering to see if it worked or they just don't know what they're doing.

Think I would trust them after they immediately screwed up something simple?

That's news to me (and somewhat surprising), but I was comparing Dvorak' s recent statements to Limbaugh's usual ignorant and inflamatory methods.

I SWITCHED AND I'VE BEEN A WINDOWS DEVELOPER FOR 15 YEARS! (Excuse me for yelling). And I've never been happier with an OS. What are these guys smoking? Or are they just trolling? Hey, maybe Dvorak is really just Rush Limbaugh in disguise?

  7. Bad Links on The Economist Tackles Complexity in IT · · Score: 0

The links I tried resulted in a page that announced I was trying to access "premium" content, and then asked if I wanted to subscribe for a month (~$20) or a year (~$90). In other words, that was a dumb thing for you to do, wasn't it?

  8. LOTR as film noir? on Celebrity Casting For LOTR · · Score: 2, Funny

THis isn't a new idea. My friends and I were casting an imaginary LOTR production back in the early seventies. I don't remember much of the lineup now, but I do recall that we (semi-seriously) discussed the idea of casting Bogart as Aragorn, Ingrid Bergman as Arwen, Peter Lorre as Gollum, and my favorite, Edward G. Robinson as Elrond ("Now look here, Gandalf, we gotta do something about this ring, see? Nyeah, Nyeah..."). Of course in those days we smoked a lot of things we shouldn't have...
