Oh, I wouldn't suggest that social services are of a high quality in Southeast. In Georgia, they probably wouldnt have gotten enough help for the authorities to realize they were speaking Klingon,:(.
PS, while we are way off topic...
I think I seen those Hmong people before...
I was doing a landscaping job on Buford Highway in Atlanta once, and I think the Hmong were those real nice Oriental Hillbilly people foraging dinner in a weed patch, on a six lane road, who had no clue what I was saying when I told them I just sprayed RoundUp all over their dinner.
Actually, Bubba was raised and still spends alot of time in "Chambodia" in Georgia, and lives in Athens, also with plenty of different kinds of people.
Being a blue collar Bubba with dark complexion, I am often addressed first in Espanol where I grew up, which is fine with me.
I was merely stating I cant believe the state would cater to someone speaking an imaginary language.
I remember a Saturday Night Live Skit where William Shatner once belittled the Trekies and told them to move out of their parents basement.
Maybe in some cases, this was a bad idea...
Really, living here in Georgia, it is beyond my life experience that the state would cater to such a bizarre whim as speaking "Klingon".
By choosing to use Internet Explorer ( a nice browser ), the user agrees to accept popups in default mode.
Mozilla ( another nice browser ), for example, is a browser that allows the user not to execute popups, with an easy switch of settings.
Cant say as I am familiar with other browsers, but it seems it is a user choice whether or not you view popups, and nobody elses fault.
I have never seen Lindows, but a very dumbed down version of Linux is the only Linux a regular person is gonna use. WalMart is the perfect vehicle for a new kind of PC. If Lindows can get to the point that WalMart is marketing $99 and $199 computers that work for basic tasks for basic people, they could do amazingly well.
That WalMart is experimenting with this seems very interesting. WalMart is a company that the Powers That Be in the Computer Industry can't bully.
This strikes me as a product that could gore the low end of the computer industry. The Powers That Be wouldn't be happy competing with WalMart, who is probably willing to make a few dollars profit per entire computer system. They have never had a competitor like WalMart.
Lindows, a cheap new Via Epia Mobo, a cute little case, a nice TV ad campaign, and available at every WalMart. Instant legitamacy!!!
Bring on the $99 McPuter Lindows with subscription service!!!
For those crying that it isn't orthodox Linux, get real. All Linux Fanatics ever say is how we need diversity and choices, well, Lindows is bringing you diversity and choice. Personally, I can figure out how to make Linux work, and dont need Lindows. But, if you are just an occasional computer user, a $100 a year for software that works is a pretty good deal. Anyone who knows how to run Linux has invested alot more than a $100 worth of time learning.
If you took a good computer programmer of 50 years from now, gave him a modern network, a PERL intrepreter ( or whatever language), and let their program EVAL strings and EVAL those strings, etc etc, he/she would probably blow our minds all the artificial intelligence that we already fail to exploit...
Like I said, yall youngsters should get busy...
I aint in the computer business, just a blue collar sort who loves computers, had one since it was a Sinclair Mail Order!!!
The economy has been cleaned out by a bunch of scam artists who looted the economy. That is the heart of the problem. Since they chose the Tech Industry was a favorite hustle, it is hurting worse than most industries.
I dont see how anyone could be pessimistic about the future of the Computer Industry unless they want to continue selling 20th century technology for top dollar. These seem to me the sort that are crying the loudest.
If I was young and just out of college, I would be extremely optimistic, because alot of garbage in the industry had been hauled to the street, making room for me and my 21st century ideas.
The potential for utilizing todays hardware is mostly unrealized, nevermind tomorrows computer networks.
There has yet to be written a computer language that even begins to use the potential of the hardware, let alone the software that exploits the language. Get busy!!!
are all built in locations where Planet Earth will without a doubt wreck the city. Residents have no reason to move there if they arent ready for the possability the whole city may need to be rebuilt.
No brainer!!!
