I used to work at Duranglers (a local flyshop) where we got lots of tourists coming into the area. One day a group of kids from Texas came in asking about the Upper Animas. They said they were on a church trip and wanted to do a little fishing. We asked them where they were going and what they were doing up there and they said it was a bible study retreat up in Chicago Basin (near 10,000 ft). They said they wanted to do some hiking, some fishing, and that their minister was going to baptize them in the Animas.
We asked them if they knew the full name of the Animas river... I explained the full name of the river is El Rio De Las Animas Perdidos En Purgatorio. The river of lost souls in Purgatory.
Obviously not the best river to be baptized in! Typical stupid Texans!
Longhorn might turn out to be a great OS, but there is a growing list of governments (like Brazil, Vietnam, and even the EU) that have decided that all the pain and dangers that come with using a Microsoft product aren't worth it and are transitioning to Open Source.
After everything Microsoft users have been through this year, I am still amazed ANYONE uses anything from Microsoft!
On the other hand... it has been a great year to be a Mac users!
Oh no! I will start making some cupcakes right away! When is the bake sale?! I know little Timmy won't mind if we give the Navy all those soup labels we have been saving so Timmy's 5th Grade class can get a computer for their classroom.
I didn't realize you guys had it so tough...
For me, listening to radio (like many things) is about control. In radio's case, however, it is about relinquishing that control. There is something freeing about allowing someone else to plot the creative journey that I find very important in my own design process. I guess it just allows me to free up some bandwidth and not have to worry about what I am going to listen to next. My two favorites are http://www.radioio.org which now is asking for donations and my local http://www.radio1190.org. The former plays a diverse mix of progressive music and the latter plays a VERY diverse range of College radio. Both have multiple format and bandwidth options and are pretty reliable. Resistance is futile...
Ah... I can so clearly hear the whir of a dirty freewheel and the tick of a grimey chain as Roxio tries to do some serious backpedaling. Sure wouldn't want to be them right now... it must feel like they have an RIAA semi-truck bearing down on them and now their customers in the Slashdot mobile ahead of them just slammed on the breaks. I wonder which will hurt more?
Ah. I too encountered the issue that the checksum didn't match... until I realized I was not checking the.dmg, but rather the.pkg. Make sure you are checking the.dmg and everything should match up. Now of course you have to trust that the checksum is authentic...
what a great way to sneak in a little trojan... spoof apple's own software update function and provide it for everyone under the guise of apple acting swiftly to patch a hole. put it up on a spoofed apple page and even provide a verification checksum to ease any suspician.
ah well. would make a good movie twist...
