http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/fusion-ios-iodrive-tested-worlds-fastest-storage-confirmed/ , etc. We do HPC stuff at work, the Fusion IO guys are cool. Their products also run 3000-15000$ so it's not exactly a fair comparison.

  2. Amie Street on Selling Independent MP3s Direct to Customer? · · Score: 1

Have you looked at Amie Street at all? They provide a lot of the services you mentioned wanting, plus have a neat pricing model that should appeal to most geeks (songs start at free, go up in price depending upon the number of purchases to a max of 98 cents. Plus a mini rewards/stock market system for if you buy a song at a low price that later goes high). Not exactly no middlemen as you said but as close as you're easily going to get.

Just curious, what obscene logos have you seen? I've played about 100 matches of Mario Kart on wifi, and I've only seen 2 I can think of that could be considered offensive. One that was of a hand flipping the bird and another of a marijuana leaf. I mostly end up playing with Japanese players even though I select worldwide due to when I'm playing, that could be a factor in why I haven't seen much of it... What sort of crap are people putting in their logos?

What makes it more amusing to me is that the math in the quoted part of the article after the summary works out if it's 10 million but not if it's 20 million. Even without clicking the link you notice something's wrong...

That must depend on the model. The USB cable came in the box with my phone (samsung a900) when I signed up with them. Works for transferring pictures from it and as a model cable.

  8. Re:Nobody interested in what the copy protection i on Porn Industry Trials Burnable DVDs · · Score: 1

No. You can burn perfectly playable video DVDs on DVD-R and DVD+R. Have been able to from their introduction. The only thing I can think of like what you're describing is PSX/PS2 games which have an unburnable section on them that prevents them from being played if not used in a modded PS2.

For copy protection, I assume it's tied to a program and does something like what Apple does with music on itunes - on your hard drive it's in an encrypted format, when you tell the program to burn it then it will decode it all to standard mpeg2 and burn it onto a DVD.

Sounds fun to me. Soundtrack preferably by lolipop groups like BerryZ Koubou, Perfume, SweetS, Route0, Pipo's Angels, etc etc. Can easily imagine the voices of the girls from BerryZ Koubou singing lines like "We welcome this happiness tonight" as the background music while a cute little bunny eats your character's soul. It'd be adorable.

And for guys. At least, I assume the Hello! Kitty (and otehr Sanrio character) condoms are intended for little girls... I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they're going to leave that sort of licensed Sanrio product out of this game though.

  13. Digital on Massively Multiplayer Hello Kitty · · Score: 1

Seems like Sanrio is reaching out more into the digital world lately. First Hello Kitty gets her own blog (warning: in Japanese so if you don't read moon language and/or hate cuteness don't click) and now her own MMORPG. I'm probably going to have to play it. I'm guessing I'm in the minority since it'll be my first MMORPG and I'm a white, male, 23 year old. Oh well, yay cuteness (image is from her blog - moblog? it has pictures for each entry... I didn't read that article about them last week so I'm not up on the terminology ^^;)
