"I remember a story of someone spinning a CD-ROM so fast it would explode. As a recall it wasn't that far away from 52x speed !"
That just happened to me last week in my AOpen 52x drive:'( i put it in and it spun up a little off balance, and the CD explodeded into shards in the drive, now i have to replace my friend's cd, and geta new drive as the cd ruined the lens in this one. until now,, i didn't thik it was possible:(
if you look closely, they don't seem to be bent the right way for that to have happened really,, i think the more likley cause is they accidentaly dropped it a few inches, or hit it with that inflatable hammer,,,
Reece,
great idea, just teach them how to use miniature pumch card systems to carry the data back and forth,, lol:), it's so insane that it has no work!
Reece,
Honestly,, i think MS-DOS could reliably run most intranet servers,, if you really wanna put them to the test,,, take 2 identical systems, win2k on one, linux on the other, and have them both slashdotted:), we'll see who the winner is then (if either survives:D)
Actually, AMD does still have the mhz on the processor package right by the model #,, ie. my AMD Athalon XP 1700+ says 1467 mhz right beside it (smaller type). they actually state it much more precisely than say intel's "2.4 Ghz" which really doesn't even state the the last 2 digits of it's clock speed.
Reece,
sorry, that dun work,, it has pin 2 to pin 3 etc.. if you connect a normal serial extension cable,, it wonqt even let u turn it on!! i made mine from the ends off a CGA cable and some telephoe wire (unshielded, untwisted) 16' long!! (could bd longdr,, it's only a 2400 baud connection:),
Reece,
Thats really just the theoretical limit,, it really depends on your hardware, my USB printer is on a 25' USB cable, which my local store keeps in stock, and works as well as on a 6' cables, and you can buy 10' cables, also over the limit by 1', at most walmarts, etc.
Reece,
Yes, McD's does have sign a contract,,i have a friend who works there. IF we're supposed to at wendy's, i was never asked to, only thing that seemed to resemble a contract was the one that had us agree that during our 1st 3 months we could be fired witout notice. (this is in Canada btw,) However, the Wendy's i work at doesn't seem to follow corparate guidlines to a tee either,
Reece,
hehe, i bought a box of front panel fillers the other day from an auction,, one was from an Emachine,, it had a big sticker that stated, "this machie will never become obselete" , and went on to state why,, how ironic that i found it's parts in a$2 box of itenms less than 2 years later:)
If i can remember correcty, some ATI cards support DVI to either 1280x768 or 1280x1024, can't remeber which tho,, unfortunatly, i'm still stuck in the analog world:(
Whoa, that's great!! i love this program almost as much as the ATI player that along with my all in wonder desrambles cable!! most of all i love the way you worded that, "automagically" that's an amazing word:)
Reece,
Oh my god! I never even thought of that,, it's my time, time is money! thoy SHOULD have to put that on the box!! damn #&#^)$&@&$ Recording industry, they've been stealing my time, and i never even noticed!!!
Reece,
I do this often, i actually have a dedicated PC behind my TV with long range wireless mouse and keyboard's, reading slashdot on a 36' can be pretty fun too:), not to mention, it can play DivX, MP3's, not to mention videogames (the main reason i have the PC there):)
Reece,
Geez, how hard are you people on ur DVD players??? i play on average a dvd a day, and my 1 apex has lasted over 2 years, not a single problem, and the region free is really nice to have:),
I have an old VHS machine with manual tracking etc. that does the same thing, works great, still has perfect picture quality, only cmplaint is that it's only mono,,,
Reece,
I wonder if this would work with an ATI tv wonder card,, i know for a fact that my ATI all in wonder can descramle cable,,, so i think there might be a good chance, yay:),
Reece,
well, this article, http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviews/apexad600a.h tml, might explain the comuter cdrom noise,, apparently, that may be what's in it!!

Remember, you anonymous coward, that it would probaly be tried under US law, meaning anything is possible! Reece :)
hmm, I think i'll stick with my nice, low wage, but contract free job at Wendy's :),
Reece,
lol, yah me too :),
Reece,
wait, i checked, it can go higher, i think that's just the limit of the monitor that was attached te it, sorry, Reece,
