Apparently this lack of viscerality is how air france 447 managed to fly into the sea and nobody noticed.

I agree with your comment. But to be fair, in the case of 447, they were flying in the coffin corner, meaning a small amount of airspeed between an aerodynamic stall due to flying to slow, and a stall due to flying too fast (yes, that exists). The first officer of that flight clearly did not recognize the state they were in and yes, essentially flew the plane to the ground.

Maybe if you would have checked your facts, you would have known that in the incident referenced, the air crew was overwhelmed as the MCAS failure happened shortly after take-off; i.e. at a low altitude. The issue pushed the nose down.

It is very similar to the Hudson splash; the first officer did not have sufficient time to complete the ditch checklist as it has been written to be completed at a higher altitude.

Having worked at Ericsson for 5 years, I can tell you this: the nerds are not the problem. The problem is that in Ericsson, every engineer is managed by multiple managers. Instead of the normal pyramid where you have let's say 10 engineers and 1 manager, Ericsson has an upside down pyramid. Each engineer has multiple managers that each want their own projects to take priority. Not to mention that the engineer:manager ratio is waaaay off.

Not to mention the fact that promotions take place based on speaking the right language. And by that I mean: speaking Swedish.

It just goes to show that DJI drones can't bring down a jetliner.

Sunday, Oct 21, 2018. San Francisco, CA.

Authorities are investigating the crash of an airliner short of SFO's 28L runway, around 10am in the morning. The airliner declared an emergency 25 minutes prior, due to an failure of its right engine. Apparently, a large crowd of rubbernecks came to the shores of the San Francisco Bay to see the stricken plane perform an emergency landing. Soon, a 4 pound DJI drone appeared over the Bay, capturing the crowd and the airplane on video.

As the airliner descended and was only a quarter mile from the runway, the drone collided with the airliner's left engine, causing it to fail as well. Now without power, the plane was unable to make it to the runway and crashed into the sea wall just short of 28L

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, only to find no survivors.

  21. It wasn't illegal adopted, it was passed into legislation by the elected legislatures of all the member states.

It was passed by the elected legislature indeed, BUT, and this is a wide-ass booty butt: against the clear wishes of the electorates in two countries.

I was a Dutch citizen at the time and voted against it. The elected legislatures at that time ignored the directive of the electorate to vote against the EU constitution.

It's one thing to be an elected member of parliament and empowered to pass laws of national significance. It's another thing to pass a law or adopt a treaty against the majority of voters who clearly voted against it. That is by definition undemocratic. Hence, the adoption of the EU constitution was illegal, undemocratic and as a result all consecutive laws are illegal as well (fruits of the poisonous tree).

They are 100% undemocratic and in violation of the Dutch law which prohibited these actions at the time. And guess what, the dutch Democratic party (D66) voted to abolish these types of referenda this year.

That's why I said: F The Netherlands, F the EU, I'll get asylum in the U.S. Here I can vote for my State senators who represent my State, AND I can vote for my district representative who represents me in the House of Representatives. The U.S. is way more democratic than the EUSSR for that reason alone.
