That big sucking sound you hear it all those U-Hauls leaving Seattle.
Why am I having a hard time believing that business as we know it will come to a complete halt if MS isn't allowed in the door?
Commerce in one form or another, from bartering coconuts to brokering used RAM, will find a way to continue, regardless if the transaction is on limestone, paper or bubble-ether crystals. Unified...disparate...co-mingled...far-stepped or translucid....who cares. The point is supply and demand, not demand by MS.
Many rely on Solaris, etc. for mission critical data. I'm sure there are related processes on Linux somewhere in every large banking system. Might be automated network performance reporting....automated backup audits....prototype network planning....human resource forecasting...project management analysis, etc. There are too many facets to modern banking to be able to state simply that one OS or another is responsible for 'handling' personal accounts.
MS wants to be a bank, remember? How better to throttle back competition than by tossing a smoke bomb or two into their home office...

Remember, Dell doesn't 'manufacture' any of their displays. Samsung and other suppliers do this for Dell.
Dell (HP; IBM; Sun, etc) works with the supplier towards unique specs, so it is reasonable to expect a Dell 1900FP made by Samsung to have different (better or worse) performance than a Samsung SyncMaster, etc., made by Samsung Electronics Display Division.
And don't forget that any good spec used by one will eventually migrate to the other.

Samsung does not manufacture units for Apple...that would be LG. Perhaps we are talking about panels versus monitors?

I handle OEM's for Samsung Electronics Visual Display Division/R & D. I can assure you Samsung is at least one of the suppliers manufacturing the Dell 1702FP.
I work for Samsung Electronics Company (Display Division R & D), and I'm happy to part of things. Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm sure SEC hopes for more of the same as new products come online.

What kind of 'high performance' web server uses back-leveled software? Apache 2.x may not be totally API compliant, but it certainly provides more than 1.3x in terms of performance.
I am glad they used an IDE RAID, however. The SCSI myth can now go on the shelf.

Can't wait for that particular bit of irony to hit the fan(s).
Joke?
Just because you're not aware of the big leap coming in streaming video...the joke will be on you, me thinks.
The liscensing is being worked out now....
If you look at the ratio of giving vs. net worth, MS is very near the bottom of the corporate list.

We as humans give ourselves far too much credit for how much damage we think we can do.

Nothing to do with humans munging global warming. BTW, that article on the Sun getting ready to heave said we have 6 years left.
