Assuming you run around the internet for hours trying to dig up the precise driver for your piece of hardware, or else windows won't recognize it, then when you do find it you realize that you're in canada, so it's not REALLY the right driver. And you're looking for an ethernet driver so you have to do it all at a friends' house... etc.
What I think is one of linux's most powerful features is that almost all hardware that *IS* supported comes with the kernel
See, now... a boycott only works if you originally bought the product in the first place...
I'm 100% positive that Sony/BMG doesn't care if pirates boycott their product, because the "boycott" was on well before they did anything (well, other than charge 20$ for a CD... wtf's up with that?)
FWIW, I boycotted RIAA labels a long time ago, but not because i thought they were doing anything wrong, but more because I like indie bands anyways.
If it rates them high, it means it does a pretty good job of guessing at what kind of tripe the masses'll buy up, which is my understanding of what it's supposed to do
On the subject of "trusted" computing, I'm curious as to how long it'll take an enterprising hacker with a microscope to figgure out the hardware shielded master key.
Really, i could be wrong, but in my mind it'd be time consuming and eye straining, but not all that hard, since every gate is etched on to a piece of glass
Do not teach your woman to use the ethereal, before you know it she'll be finding out what pr0n you search, and listening in on your IM conversations...
There are only a limited number of ways of solving certain problems, so if entire functions look pretty much the same, it wouldn't be too surprising (unless comments are the same too... then it's fishy)
The ONE feature I want out of OO.o is the ability to compile it in a 64 bit environment. Everything about 1.1.4 is perfect, except that I can't compile it
Especially linux on amd64 without emul ia32 turned on, like my computer...
I can't even run a good chunk of *linux* binaries, let alone binary code for an *entirely* different platform (win32)
Why does everyone have such problems with radiocarbon dating?
Theological concerns. If C14 dating is correct, then the earth is older than 6000 years ago, and it would anger the sky wizard to have errors poked in a book some guy wrote.
1 is NOT a prime number
Isn't it? What divides 1? only itself, (and, by simple identity) 1. Seems to fit the definition of prime really well.
Yeah, for when the US is involved in actions that push from the arctic through a jungle to the middle east without stopping...
Software patents?
Holy shit you're right.
Check out his post history, they're all "look at this great thing that microsoft makes"
Astroturfing is worse than ads above the pisser

Too bad I live in the north west... I never get to see anything in the sky that isn't water.
well, technically speaking you have an accent as well. I could probably notice it on you (unless you're western Canadian).
The systems are set up though to only deal with the broadcast standard accent, which I think is the problem.
I dunno...
I'll never buy a sony CD again, but a ps3 is fair game. I still hate MS way more than i hate sony
Don't be a lemming.
Or do, because that game was awesome.
But if the entirety of the first sample was compromised (it can happen), then all subsequent tests would show up as false positives as well

Quite the opposite, actually.

Actually, it's the perfect time for it... you don't drag your spouses credit rating down with yours, and you don't fold your debts in to theirs either

i dunno, i didn't find quake4 too overly dark... dark, yes, but not too bad

Ignorance is bliss... just not *my* ignorance
Although it does have a monopoly on the Xbox360 market...
you can always get used... all the 360 migraters will dump their old xbox
Yeah you can...

For the love of god work on an amd64 port!!

It's a kernel option. Also, a gentoo use flag (multilib)
Saves a tiny bit of harddrive space, but more to the point, i'm sure of what i'm running
Especially linux on amd64 without emul ia32 turned on, like my computer... I can't even run a good chunk of *linux* binaries, let alone binary code for an *entirely* different platform (win32)

Doesn't that disqualify it from being the "single IM protocol" then?

NaCl present in blood, it must be depression
