you know what i kind of think is funny (in a rather sick and twisted way) is the images of the journalists so decked out in kevlar that they look like an offensive lineman, complete with huge, protective collars and helments. i watched one guy crouching, crawling over to interview a soldier, i don't know, i guess i would probably be the same way if i was in that situation, but some just seem a little to scared to be over in the middle of it.
you know, why don't they make some good games like gameboy games for computers? i love a good side-scrolling 2d game to just popup every once and a while to waste time on.
btw, don't go starting on emulators, i've been there and am not wasting my time on those again!
one thing i have noticed, macs seem to have far superior, reliable games like these up for download than windows.
this is probably very good for nintendo since the gamecube doesn't seem to be competeing as strong in the console market. sony may snag a lot of the share with PS's but there is basically no competition at all for gameboys.
i agree with your main argument, but how does filetrading equat to civil disobedience (whether you think it is or not)? isn't civil disobedience about protesting some law/whatever that you think is immoral? while many fileswappers might *say* yes i think laws against file trading are wrong, don't you think most are just downloading because they want the files and don't think about moral issues?
I couldn't agree with you (the parent post) more. I'm going to assume I'm younger than you (at age 17), but I too see the amount of rediculous warnings. Check this one out, about OSHA warning of workers killing each other with nail guns.
Government regulations cannot protect consumers, workers, or whatever from stupidity and cannot replace commen sense. As if local governments have enough problems, regulations, and paperwork to meet . . . if they feel that open source is right for their particular instance, great, but if not, why muddle the process, unless there is some budget crisis or something!
lol, that sounds like the making of a bbspot story.
AOL user shocked! "I received a personal message that was not trying to sell me anything! I didn't know this kind of thing existed!" AOL engineers responded that this anomaly occasionally happens about every 0.264% of regular mail sent. . ..
regulating telepathy . . . hmmm, get simmons in here.
considering we pay for bottled water . ..
also the old MS joke that congressman made about charging for the alphabet and then charging an extra $40 (or whatever) if i decide to add letters such as N, or T
that is sick! 42 dvds @ 5.2 gb each = 218.4 gb!! what os and other junk could they possibly put on to fill that up! i mean, didn't VS.NET ship on one dvd? and that's MS!
launghing:

potato guns are cooler though . . . i mean come on the mere thought of launghing potatoes is just funny. way funnier than white powdery stuff that is traditionally thrown around anyway.
then you obviously haven't been in a good snowball fight . . . the wetness factor can be particularly effective even if they aren't that hard, but if you pack them good ...
"Never in our history have fewer been in a position to control more of the creative potential of our society than now"
Or is that really the issue? Is it really restricting creative potential? Name one artist who won't release, for example, a CD because they think they won't make money because of file sharing. Not that I'm for illegal downloading, but honestly.
Wouldn't you agree that most mainstream "artist" are more profit driven than driven by creativity?
bbspot had a pretty good fool's day material involving peter jackson. check it out
isn't this kind of stupid to post instructions for how to install a game on /.? aren't we supposed to be nerds capable of such?

good, now i'm not the only one who think homestarrunner.com "it's dot com" is funny. i feel much better.
just as a side note, the term is actually 'air marshall.' which are some pretty highly trained, butt kickin, federal agents.
