It's just my opinion of course, but thats completely untrue on all but the "interactivity of a games" count. Comics, like most any media, has a large percentage of crap... or at least stuff that doesn't appeal to a majority of people, and smaller percentage of work that is brilliant. There is a question of accessibility; my mother couldn't watch a cartoon and take it seriously to save her life, its just too childish to her. However, as I imagine a large number of slashdotters will attest, there is some very brilliant work to be found in animation. In most fields I think you'll find the best examples of really good work are relatively unknown and not mainstream. After awhile, said unknown piece or pieces may be adopted by larger distributors and overtime generisize (my new word for today) the bulk of the industry until the next new piece comes along. Its a story with pictures, there's terrible and good, but do you really think they can't tell a good story? Have you ever read Bone, Watchmen, Sin City, Powers, Sandman, and anything at all by Sam Kieth, Berserk, Fables, Y?

I don't know much about electronic paper but I pressume
    A) it needs power
and B) its easy to damage.
As far as food products like soda are concerned I would think it might be taboo to package a product that holds a charge.
Also, the way stores ship, store, and bundle all the bulk they buy would run down the batteries (or if its got some sweet solar array keep it out of the light) and probably damage the display. Magnets are probably used in much of the equipment used or kept around bundles of products while in some scattered shipping state. I could go on, but it just doesn't seem feasible to me...

First and foremost, "Peeps leftover from last Easter" get my vote. Second, we are discussing an article about the special effects for an upcoming movie... and the trailer from this movie isn't relevant!? I saw the trailer too and I had the same problem with it; to CG or not to CG depends on whether you can maintaina suspension of disbelief, and that scene did look like a bunch of stretch armstrongs in penguin suits. This isn't to say the final product won't be great, god knows with or without a kendoized sign they have my money. In any event, the trailer sure as hell seems like fair game to me given that it is an example of sfx, but I could just be biased cause I didn't like it either...

I'm not really involved in game developement so I have no authority backing this but..... Is it possible that the work environment is a big issue. Lots of programmers working in very specified areas having no say in the games creaticity; because with the complicated level of todays games they need a lot more programmers working on one title?
