Offtopic bit: Oww, posting to cancel a stupid moderation mistake. Chromium + cursor keys + Slashdot instant moderation is something I hate. I'm happy scrolling up and down but accidentally if I pick a moderation and then click on down arrow... Pants.
Ontopic bit: You have a point. That's why we have different distributions. While Fedora/RHEL spinoffs are in small numbers, Debian spinoffs have really taken off in the last 5 years. There are so many different spins of Ubuntu, it's trivial to install one, if not happy, do a big apt-get install and get all of the goodies by default.
On the other hand, there are a lot of things Canonical do completely wrong, I wouldn't know where to start with.
So.. You have a little server there. Good luck with using it for teaching a bunch of students about how scalable clustered software works, how to write the software, what are the pitfalls and else.
Good luck running 64 separate VMs on your small server (not saying it's not impossible but I really wonder which one is faster to set up) and you won't be able to test any of the very different interconnects that easily.
As an owner of an '99 XTZ660, I am actually impressed with any camera that's not Olympus in that video. Since it's a big single thumper, those bikes are very viby.
I love KDE, I'm using KDE4 right now but the first KDE 4.0 implementations on all distros sucked so bad, I had to go somewhere else until it got fixed. That was a big mistake which alienated a lot of people. Unfortunately when someone mentions KDE4, most still remember KDE4.0.
Anything that releases an information which doesn't fit the Republican agenda is a 'left-wing liberal' organisation and if the people working for it have at least one university degree, it is an 'elitist' place.
Yup, good ol' Miguel and his love of free software which has prevented fragmentation by backing up a sure winner (*cough*KDE*cough*) instead of slinging mud to satisfy his ego and not doing the "not-invented-here" trick... NOT!!
I take the article as dubious because it quotes Miguel.
How do you measure Linux share? I have three laptops here, and a Pi booted up and doing ham radio stuff, all running Linux with desktop. I didn't purchase anything from anyone, how do these get counted? Oh yes, of course, they don't get counted.
I hope your many IT friends don't work anywhere near my IT friends since I would prefer my IT friends work with competent people. If you don't want to use a toy GUI, Windows 8 or OSX are not the solution, KDE and many other are.
With regarding KDE vs Gnome, I think the history of Gnome must be remembered. By scare tactics, usage QT was discouraged by deIcaza himself and Gnome was founded. If there are any duplications, the fault squarely lies with deIcaza and his massive ego. Don't get me started with the Mono either.
I truly believe the guy is a fifth columnist and the evidence is pretty strong.
Wrong! There are other leak sites out there, even ran by ex-Wikileaks people who couldn't stand Assange's antics any more (and this was before his rape allegations).
Wikileaks was great, it gave us a place to rally around, donate money to and talk / evangelize about it, then a stupid Australian prick ruined it for all.
First, you don't have the right to make rules on what is rape and what is not rape. Second, he is accused of non-consensual sex. Third, there are more than one incident in question and courts of UK has decided that what he is charged with would count as rape in UK. That's good enough for me.
Then it is perfect, he goes to the court, gets acquitted and walks out a free man. Hang on, he can do that even if US had something to do with it but he won't.
US requesting his extradition without any evidence of wrongdoing and Sweden actually handing him over after found not guilty is not even remotely possible. UK has a worse track record compared to Sweden when it comes to handing people to US and when he was in the country perfectly free of any allegations, he could come to UK and go away without anyone saying a word about it.
He's an attention seeker, destroying Wikileaks' credibility.
My hope was the old wikileaks-fork, Openleaks to do the right thing but I haven't heard anything coming out of them since their announcement. Assange is Wikileaks' worst enemy.
If you say "Stop!" and she goes on, yes. You are being sexually assaulted. If you say "go ahead", you aren't sexually assaulted. The magic word is "consent".
Fact checks: He was in UK before the Embassy and was free to roam around within the conditions of his bail. Once he lost the High Court proceedings, he jumped bail and became an escaped criminal. Then he went to the embassy.
Hey American, First: You do not get to make rules for the other countries. Second: What Assange allegedly did was non-consensual sex between a man and a woman. Third: It's nice to know US does not recognize homosexual rape. I think you should go and look at your law books again. You might be surprised.
Even if they "recant", it is very commonly known for the rape victims to withdraw allegations under pressure. It is a part of the male privilege, apparently it's always the women that got it wrong and the rape was actually a friendly fuck. Yeah, right, and I'm a Dutchman.

Of course, this being a teaching tool, having the performance would mean nothing. Having the discrete computing units do.

Compared to the disk transfer rates, negligible.

No one uses nukes unpunished... Yeah, right. Tell that to Japan.

He's a traitor to the cause.

So stop making shit up.

Nope, you definitely have no idea what you're talking about.
I call BS on the idea that we have the tech/means for a moon base right now.
Cursorily is only like the 2nd non-terrestrial craft to use something other then solar for power.
Hah!
Pioneer 10 & 11, Voyager 1 & 2, Viking 1 & 2, Galileo, New Horizons and on and on and on...
You must be joking. Nuclear power usage in space craft is not new, it's not even new on Mars! We have two of those slowly cooling down right now
That's some stupid rubbish. See here http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jan/13/wikileaks-bradley-manning-defence-fund
I admit Wikileaks has been derailed by Assange's actions lately but before that they were solidly supporting Manning.
The people who WERE there (the women involved) say it wasn't rape.

Assange himself is the worst enemy of Wikileaks.
Of all of the silly things you've said, this made my head spin...
Powell is not a conservative? A man who tried to get the bid to run for the president for the Republicans is not a conservative?
I really wonder from which parallel universe you came from.
