Everyone. Everyone has that one area of passion in which they excel and have a knowledge of minutae. Be it Red Sox stats dating to 1903, the best ways to obtain and smoke drugs, or how to make a rocket- everyone is a Geek in one way shape or form. Now we're just finally realizing it.

Deus ex machina is greek for God from machine. It was a used in Greek plays when the characters got themselves into a hopeless bind. A machine would lower a God to the stage who would fix everything. Words placed strategically together often have connotations that a mere comingling of their definitions does not.

And that's the rub. A good attorney can make a meritless case look like one with merits- agreta attorney can then go on to win. I've seen it, too. It won't happen in this case, but as long as SCO can maintain a veil of reasonable merits, the case will continue.

Just to add some weight to the equation, 100,000 pages of paper (a pallet) weighs roughly a ton (all those years at Xerox were good for something;-). So your "back-up" would weigh in at right around 3,500 pounds, or the weight of a Run of the Mill Sedan (RMS). As we all know, RMS is also the abbreviation commonly used when prolestizing about Gnu. Gnu is an anagram for "Gun."

So, the moral of the story- it'll take a ton of work, but it's worth a shot.
