    So does anyone know why Soul Calibre III was released solely on PS2 when, of all the platfoms, it sold, by far, the least of the Soul Calibre titles? Does that strike anyone else as counter-productive?

    why on Earth should you be able to patent it?

    Without reading TFA, I'd guess that the patent is not on the virus itself but on the large scale production and use of it in a clinical manner.

    Personally, I get a bit worried when a rallying cry from Slashdot is picked up by the Mainstream Media. I just don't trust them to get the actual issues right. Then they fight for the wrong thing and, since they were "victorious," immediately drop all further coverage. And your window of change is out the door faster than a shyster's C&D.

    The executives making the decisions don't understand the technology and have fortunes built upon the success of Brittney Spears. They are trapped by their own business models and the only way out is something not only new and unproven but something that they can't wrap their brains around. Net result: fear. Fear of failure, destitution, and the loss of everything they have gained on the work of others. Fear.
