    Turns out lots of really complex social problems are addressed by the wisdom of crowds. The educated elite came up with eugenics. I think it's safe to say the educated elite should not be in charge of things.

    I really wish American companies would juet abandon the EU and let them try to make their own tech. It's worked well for Russia and China. That's where the EU is headed, and I don't want them to drag the American web behind them with their giant market.

    Cannabis business doesn't have problems because of being unbanked. At least not entirely. There are plenty of businesses that can deal with that. Cannabis businesses have an unusually large amount of cash and are usually forced by zoning into dark corners of the neighborhood.

  10. The vast majority of security vulnerabilities in the wild are running AMD64 assembly. It's by far the least secure programming language.

  14. Ok, but the only headphones that I've ever had curl up to the point that it takes more than half a second to untangle are the Apple earbuds. It's the stupid wire design they use; it causes the cords to tangle. Good headphones never really do this under normal use.

    So, it sounds like Apple sold you such a crappy product for years, you forgot what a decent one was like.

    Negative. Macbooks, after adjusting for the current exchange rate and according to everymac.com, which lists the historical MSRPs of ever Mac, the French and German markets pay about a 15% premium. The nominal prices are similar, but USD is cheaper than EUR.

    So, you are essentially forced by your government to pay for the extended warranties which are optional in the U.S.

    We have insurance instead. You pay for the level of support you want. The law doesn't even cover one year in many U.S. states. Insurance is fine though. Remember that electronics are typically cheaper in the U.S., so we have enough left over to pay for EU level support if we so choose.

    Waiting for government enforcement? Then you're falling into the logical and moral trap of using violence to spread your beliefs.

    Remember all taxation is perfectly equivalent to being robbed at gunpoint by a Robin Hood like mercenary who is going to give your shit away. When we decide to tax people, we must weigh the taxation against the reality that we are willing to murder people because of our economic ideas.

    If you are trying to make a moral argument for saving the climate, you can't legitimately make one by standing on the backs of murdered taxpayers. You can only make a moral argument by ponying up regardless of if everyone else is doing it.

    If you aren't abandoning a semblance of modern life, you have no moral standing to tell others to save the climate.

    By default nothing can access an AWS classic ES cluster. The newer VPC clusters are only accessible to the VPC.

    She definitely needs to work on communication, but she has no intention of actually placing a tax on robots or replacing labor with robots. She's using robots as a proxy for the rich. The rich have most of the capital generating robots, so it sort of works, but yeah, it makes it sound like she wants to destroy innovation.

    I heard her claiming she wanted to "tax the robots" which sounds like a fucking horrible idea. What she meant was "tax the rich" who are benefiting from robotics, but when she says "tax the robots" it sounds like she's trying to destroy innovation. Stick with "tax the rich".
