    Why would you need a form of Real ID? I'm fine getting paid in anonymous crypto. If you wanna get paid with legacy EFT, that's fine, but you are making a choice to abandon privacy for convenience.

    The difference is that when I share my info online, I do not have an expectation of privacy like I do with my home. If you share anything with even one of your friends, then the expectation on privacy is zero. Even if you share info only with a corporation, there is an expectation that corporation is going to use my info for analysis and monetization.

    Want privacy online? Use encrypted person-to-person messaging. Otherwise, why do you keep sharing your info?

    Am I the only one who thinks they should simply be required to have profit sharing or otherwise pay you for the data, rather than try to stop it?

  4. There are so many options; nearly limitless. Some people might like souping up cars, lots of people enjoy gardening or growing food, software developers will not stop what they're doing, travel, playing games, creating art, getting educated, reading books, surfing, road trips, spending time with family, learning to cook new things for yourself or friends and family, camping, survival training, carpentry, build a gazebo, volunteer to help needy kids, ...

    I can go on pretty much endlessly with all the ways you can spend time doing something better than labor.

    I almost never see a salary posted that is more than I make. I feel like at the higher end, no one is posting salary offers, they're just paying what is demanded.

    I have bargaining power for the simple reason that it is EXTREMELY expensive and difficult to replace me. I don't need a mob to demonstrate my bargaining power; my work is my bargaining power.

    My value prop is that your business will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost productivity trying to find someone to replace me for $30k less.

    I don't need everyone else. I am valuable as an individual, not just as part of a mob.

    But we already have bargaining power. The only thing unions can offer tech workes is a professional class of bargainers, but unions cannot offer any further bargaining power than we already have.

    Instead of joining unions, we should be finding agents.

    What it would do is focus technology resources on companies doing something worthwhile with technoloy, rather than having dozens of firms in every city that suck up all the talent converting marketing materials into websites, because marketing companies have the most money to throw around.

    We need a contraction in software development. Most of it's worthless derivative shit.
