" the open source community needs to be a little more serious about the game market..."
Or a little more serious about catering to the mass market so that Linux is more proliferated out there.
Hmm maybe a little bit of both? I think a gaming distro of Linux would be cool. Make a distro that fits on one CD that contains a few games, then give it away free at game stores or something. Maybe include Wine?
I don't know a whole lot about Linux so my suggestion here might be idiotic, but I think if enough people had Linux laying around the game developers would start to get bold.
"What's next? Slashdot posts stories about warez releases?"
Emulation != warez. As a matter of fact, emulation is a valuable tool when developing games for something like the GBA. Or did you think they used a GBA with an on-screen keyboard to program?;)
"And I tried to submit it: 2003-04-01 17:32:14 Duke Nukem 3D Source Released (no kidding) (articles, games) (rejected)"
It wouldn't have been rejected if you used the word "Linux" in a positive tone, or "M$" in a negative tone.
"Poke Micro$oft in the Eye by Porting Duke Nukem to Linux!"
If you had posted it that way, it not only would have made it to the front page, it'd also have generated 400 'MS Sucks!' comments! Slashdot's like a sitcom in that respect, heh.
Morally wrong is selling an item based on as little information as possible and not accepting returns if it's unsatisfactory. Until the "no returns on open CDs" policy is generally lifted, I have no ethical or moral problem with exploring music via P2P. They need to earn my money, not put out junk and hope I'm a sucker.
"Thats a laugh, countries like India China have very high percentage of piracy (some stats put it above 90 %) yet have a burgeoning software industry."
Gives us all a pretty good idea what they're pirating, doesn't it?

"BSA IDC FUD" You know you are a geek when you understand a headline of all these acronyms...:\
I get the gist of it. A U.S. security agency is investigating Elmer Fudd for opened a federally insured savings account.
"In both of them I see a solider trying to calm someone down. In the combined photo I see the same. The message is the same but I can see some people saying that it is all for propoganda"
There's a HUGE difference. In the first pic, the soldier is gesturing, and the man in the blue shirt is looking away from him like he doesn't care. In the second picture, the soldier's got his head turned, and the blue shirt guy is looking right a thim. The third photo shows the blue shirt guy watching the soldier intentively.
It's like he altered the image to look like the soldier's being respected.
"I bet some of the cameras being used by the photographers don't have "red eye" reduction. Should they be fired too? Won't the red dot make the person look angry?"
To the camera yes, to a person standing there, no. That's why it's okay to remove the red from the eyes. (seeing as how the red eye is caused by a flash, who cares anyway?)
There's a huge difference between adjusting color ranges (i.e. taking red to black) and adjusting elements in a scene. You're changing history by inserting somebody into a photo. You're not changing history by printing the photo in black and white.
" Your reputation is hurting due to all these bad jokes and gay retorts. Instead of pooping out five bad jokes, spend that same amount of money and buy one good joke."
" You said that low version numbers indicate that "it wasn't at a state that they were comfortable with yet" [slashdot.org]. Apparently Netscape was comfortable enough with it at that point to release 6.0 (which is essentially the "New Netscape" 1.0, as it isn't based on the same codebase as their old releases)"
Mozilla != Netscape. To be perfectly honest, Netscape's standards are not universally accepted as high. Afterall, they're responsible for releasing the least stable browser ever. (No, I'm not talking aobut Mozilla, so keep your MoZealousy in check.)
BTW, we're nowhere near the original point I made. The only reason this version number point is being argued is that it's felt that I'm attacking Mozilla. "Dammit, he's not singing the praises of Mozilla. Well the only way I can defeat his logic is to play semantic games with a detail I think I can nail him on! Oh rats. It's not critical to his point. So I better blow it out of proportion! Yeah! I'll make it sound like he's obsessed with version numbers, then I'll compare it with IE which nobody likes, and I'll kick his butt! I just hope he doesn't try to bring me back on topic, I couldn't argue with what he said there..."
"Simultaneously, according to the press release, "many others requested their own 'right handed' version."
Reminds me of the Kodak 'Weekender' Camera. People kept calling up asking if it was okay to use during the week. (note: That's not an April Fool's hoax.)
Man, an assumption about Linux from the PoV is a troll, but if somebody makes a BSOD joke it's funny as hell. Go fig.
Geez guys, can't you keep track of all your stories for the last two years so ya can't make a dupe?

When's Linux going to support those?
"Wouldn't it be cheaper to offer an educational discount on music CD's, thus encourage more CD purchases?"
Gee, that almost sounds like Supply and Demand.

Try Linux. It's only 'wrong button' is the enter key.

The Borg weren't evil.

Makes you wonder why that Borg icon's there, duddn't it?

What? Heh. Why do you care about my quips?
"One step closer to having honey moons in space? Wooo"
You have greater challenges towards having a honey moon than getting into space.
"So, will this be a cost effective way to launch Lance Bass into space?"
Absolutely. We'd all contribute to that fund. The real question is whether or not it'd be a cost effective way to send anything else into space.
