nobody has to spam. it is a choice. if you make the choice to harass people, you deserve a lot of what is coming your way. someone who has to give out an email address to get a t-shirt says: I want that t-shirt. he didn't say: I want that t-shirt, and regular junkmail from you. also be aware that some people (like me) act rabidly. RBL is my friend. and it is yours too. It may have already saved your business, since it has stopped some spam. you have already sent spam. If you're lucky, nobody reported you to the RBL yet. but if someone has, it's your own fault. if that ruins some company.. good...that's one spammer less. Maybe the next company WILL behave. the RBL is what self-regulation is all about, which america seems to like so much. But look at companies whine when it doesn't work in their favour. All spammers disgust me, and remember: I am NOT your target audience.

EULA's are filled with all kinds of standard lawyer crap, and in most cases the biggest part of the EULA is not valid. Ofcourse, maybe in the states you can do these silly things.
Europe has left most of the feudal ways, the US is reinstating them with corporations as the new nobles. companies give money to the two political parties that have a chance of getting a president. Now it turns out that ads on the web don't work, and businesses are withdrawing money. Yes, this may hurt the hobby site. However.. you didn't 'sell' click-throughs, you sold a space on your page(s), so don't blame me for not behaving as you would like. you simply cant sell my behavior. the fact that businesses don't want to advertise more is their own fault for choosing a dodgy business method.

gues what.. if I want bar and some general monkeying around, I'll look up the information (independant tests usually from specialist mags or consumer orgs) or ask in a couple of stores about what there is, and at what cost. this would bring down cost for the product, since there's no more millions gone on so-called info. I would be a lot less annoyed, and so would many many people with me. all this better communnication talk is the difference between carpet-bombing and laser-guided smartbombs. the result is destructive and everyone would be better off without it.

  16. Re:Some Basic Advice on What Audio System Powers Your Home Theater? · · Score: 2

You want a good audio system, go to a good HiFi, or if you have the chance, High End audio store. Spend most of the money on speakers, that'll do most for the sound. listen to the speakers before you buy'em. when you go to the store, bring one or 2 CDs you know well, preferably in completely different genres. You'll need this to determine how well your speakers sound. Make sure the store you go to has a separate listening room, a demonstration in the main store is just about useless (BAD acoustics). You CAN go for cheap speaker-cable, but if you do, take it double length, and make all connections from speaker to amp go over a double connection. this greatly decreases resistance, and is usually cheaper than going for high-quality wiring. Make sure the amp is powerful enough, you're dealing with digital media which can need pretty high peak-performance from the amp. The amp should be close in output per channel to the number of watts the speakers can handle, or stronger. a weak amp may cause clipping (temporary direct current. speakers don't like that). again, it's peak performance that counts. If you have digital out, and want real high quality sound it may be a choice to get a separate DA converter (especially useful if your CD player also has digital output). And if you really have the money, get a pre-amp, and a single mono-amp for each channel.
