>Why is it illegal to possess a photograph of an illegal event?
the reasoning is probably something like this:
we don't want to create a market for child-pornography, since this would partially legitimise the making of child-pornography. by allowing the product, you encourage the producer. making a CGI of child pornography is probably to make it easier to apprehend the real sick bastards. a picture of a kid in the nude isn't child-pornography, btw. there must be a 'sexual act'. Otherwise, your mom would be a criminal for keeping all those baby-pics around (and showing them to your gf)
looks like I'm gonna have to start weighing my keyboard.. if they're putting stuff in, I want to know.. now only to take into account the natural weight gain of a keyboard due to tobacco-in-the-keys
yes, it's a definition using mass rather then size, which I am well aware off. I think a definition on mass (actually gravitational pull which is dependant on mass) makes more sense then merely size.
hmm.. I have no idea, IANAA (I am not an astronomer). But what sounds nice is: If a human can jump off it and reach orbit without jumping aids, it's not a planet. Just an idea.. maybe instead of human one could use any earth animal. I am too lazy what mass would be needed, but should be at least a little large;)
the athletes shouldn't be censored either. but if NBC pays 3.5 billion (seen in another post, I have no way to verify), that can send a LOT of athletes all over the world. maybe we'll have to call off the opening ceremony, but the games arent about the ceremony anyway.
>The british never saw themselves as mere humans; they think they are above all other nations and always flouted their arrogant snobbishness, never backing-off from the concept that they oughta rule the whole world. They can't play by any other rules than theirs, and they keep changing the rules so they always win. For them, a "level" playing field is always tilted to advantage them.
As opposed to the americans, who NEVER try to impose their rules..
btw.. yes, most european monarchs can, in theory, stop laws. to my knowledge, this has happened once in Belgium. the belgian king at the time, Boudewijn, could not in clear conscience sign a bill legalizing abortion (IIRC). he resigned as king for a little while, bill was passed, and he became king again. the other option was to completely get rid of the royal house.
a recent british(IIRC) survey has found that THC actually makes you drive safer.. (no, I don't have the link). so drinking and driving IS more dangerous than MJ and driving. Not that I'd recommend it though.. it's still DUI. personally I think it has a lot to do with estimating your own abilities... at least MJ doesn't make you feel you can take on the world.
disturbing... yes. surprising? not really. I hope they continue this way because this has a better chance reaching the news than some 'evil communist linux hackers' campaaigning for linux.. this is ms campaigning against themselves. I like that in a monopolist;)
hmm.. I disagree here. IMO, a reasonably well-known OS changing its partition type just to support 1 specific case of hardware, where the hardware manufacturer has made an oversight (I don't think IBM meant anything bad with it) is at the least a little strange. IBM should correct their error.
at this moment, I know the situation you describe is COMPLETELY legal in the Netherlands for books, paintings, songlyrics and generally just about any copyrighted work. This case of personal copying is also allowed for complete works. Please note that the situation changes as soon as you start selling stuff.
it's a matter of law, and one of the largest differences between the US and europe. it falls under privacy law. conversely, the phone company cannot listen to my conversations (over their hardware), my landlord can't just enter my appartment whenever he wants to, even though he owns it (while I'm paying rent it is considered my private space), and the ISP isn't allowed to look at random emails just cos they feel like it.
been watching a little too much BBC? it's been a few years since I heard kenny everett(sp?) utter that phrase.. good to see it again.. had me in stitches for a moment:)

you're right.. if you think money is a good reason for censorship. "It would cost us a lot of money" is IMO no reason to censor ANYONE.

I don't remeber the brand (I'll get back with that tomorrow), but this thing featured:
:)
-all regions
-plays audio-cd's, CD-R, CD-RW
-MP3 cds
it was something like Fl 900,- (450 euro), in one of my local hifi stores
looks like that's what you'll need for a standalone DVD player

that would be an autobiodactylograph (but my greek is a little rusty I fear)

ofcourse you can be too young to write your autobiography... you have to be able to write in the first place..

Starship Troopers is indeed fascist.. like Animal Farm is communist... it's not a glorification.
