    from what I hear Storm is quite good, but I havent tried it myself.. I'm pretty happy with SuSe though, which I know has a real easy install.

    for proof that legalizing marihuana look at the netherlands: marihuana is easy to get in legal places. the netherlands has a lower percentage of hemp-smokers (NOT users, I wouldn't know.. but under users would also fall people who wear e.g. t-shirts made from hemp fibre) than the US. I very recently read 'the emperor wears no clothes' (the title you are referring to). a lot of it is available online at Jack Herer's site

    people will ALWAYS find humour in what hits close to home. There are jokes about racism, terrorism, death, war, destruction, ships sinking, murders.. anything. humour is a normal mechanism for human beings to cope with anything serious. you don't have to like it, you don't have to do it. I admit to making racist jokes, lesbian jokes, homosexual jokes.. just about anything. that doesn't necessarily mean that I am a racist, womanhating homophobe though...I have friends in all those classes..

    AFAIK the clause about benchmarks isn't valid in europe. this clause would put too much restrictions on consumer organisations.

    I don't care how M$ falls. They've made it clear that they'll stoop to any level to get more cash, but now the shoe is on the other foot. But I would not insert any windows code into a linux app. linux is not the OS of thieves. And that would make linux just as bad as M$.

    while native english speakers are a minority, I still think english will become the defacto standard. what your first language is doesn't matter much, what does matter is how many people speak english as a first, second or third language.

    maybe not highly trained or paid.. but still maintained.. and if your companie's toilet is not maintained... well if a company doesn't care about its own hygiene it can't be much.. the flushing toilet was recently voted as the best invention ever. you should care for it ;)

    maybe in the US. Here in the Netherlands what you have just described (disturbing content good for kids) has just happened last week: the 'jeugdjournaal' (news for kids on TV) has started showing things like murders, wars, etc.. because parents asked for it. the dutch want their kids to see the world as it is.. and not through pink-coloured glasses.

    nope.. you won't be thought of as stupid, since you went out of your way to go to the voting booth. get enough blank forms coming in, and it'll definately be seen as a form of protest against the established order. ofcourse.. a single blank vote won't do much.. just like any single vote. at least the blank votes get counted, so people start noticing how many are unhappy with current US politics.

    for that there's the NULL vote: go to the voting booth, but don't fill in the form (or fill it in, but make the vote invalid). You will be counted as having voted. You didn't vote for anyone. no vote is also a vote in this case.

    indeed.. you got the amusement mutt, that you teach stuff like fetch your paper, grab a frisbee etc. people come up to you and are interested. wow.. such a nice doggy.. doesn't look like much at first sight, but can do lotsa cool doggy stuff

    then there's the full-breed poodle. fur cut to look nice and win prizes at dogshows. basically just stands around looking pretty.

    Damn, a good analogy goes a long way, and this one is getting better and better ;)

    the problem is that OPD claims to be international. they say: no illegal links.. but what is illegal? illegal to US law? illegal to Chinese law? illegal to Verweggistan (Farawaysia, for the dutch impaired..) ? Illegal in the country the server is located? it's not clear enough. is reverse engineering legal? it is in europe...

    and it's easy to get a mutt cheaply (or even free) at your local pet asylum. You usually have to fork out quite a bit of cash for a 'real breed' dog. unless you get a copy (=puppy) from a friend/neighbour/whatever.

    if the NDA is illegal (doubtful, but possible) it can freely be broken, which leaves the information out in the open, making 'freier' software a possibility (I prefer german here because it distinguishes between freedom and cost, and more people speak german than dutch :)

    ofcourse as RMS stated, reverse engineering is still an option.
