    Im still mourning the canclation of the Mac SE's... My Mac SE FDHD is still running word 3 perfectly, only uses 1 power outlet, and is the sexiest computer ever to grace the planet.

    Im with you on this one Napster is dead. What once was the biggest name in online music swapping is now dead. Its pretty much proven that as long as you can download music free that not many people will join a pay service with limited musc/play time.

    I dont believe that 80% of the network traffic is composed of by the novices. I think that just like when they blocked napster years ago word of mouth will travel on how to get around this kind of stuff. I'd be interested to see just how much network traffic this gets rid of. I cannot see more than a 25% change because of the new rules. I would also say that if cornell doesnt already have one then they should add a public server where files can be dumped for the use of all students. Therefore if im downloading all 3 Redhat disks (Well over 1 GB) I can put them on this server to save you from having to waste a GIG of your own montly quota. Once Again just my 2cents

    Or they could just keep it simple and let that kid that doesnt use all his bandwidth download it for him and burn it on a cd. No need for all that excessive work.

    Instead of the anonymous Proxy the first line of the cookie reads PREFID= Then your ID. I have done some testing this can be changed and everything still works... i even have advaned features on my toolbar... Why dont all slashdot users just pick one ID... get as many people on there as we can and stump google... just a thought...

    Would a windows user go through all that trouble? I bet not... a windows pc is a dime a dozen. A Mac is somthing on a whole different level. Also the "new" mac users who are attracted to OSX seem to be more geeky then previous macaddicts and there more ready to do this kind of stuff.

    Wireless security is still many inovations away fomr being as secure as a land line. I personally would never do anything over wireless that I would not do on a public computer, the idea of truly securing wireless is easier said then done.

    "too high priced to be a toy" Yeah it really had outpriced itself, but think, when doesnt sony? If you want another cool way to do this try a HP Jornada 500 series with the swivle camera add on. I have it and the pictures are a bit grainy but "I still captured my special moments" as the article says.

    Looks cool, but what else would one expect from sony? Only thing, and i hate to bitch is I hate the CPU! I know im a linux user so im not alowd to hate it, but i used a HPC with one and it was sluggish at best, To really to a good job I would like to see an XScale appearing in these types of devices in the near future.

    Thats a cool concept from a cool company(NEC) only thing not to like is that CPU. That thing gets terrible performance. So when you think about it, it can take longer to do things and in the end might not be as econmical as "Joe Desktop" bargined for. Am i right?

    Yes that is a possiblility. While they were developing there on os they had to have a platform they used, i guess redhat is it and i bet within the next 6months they are running on there own distro. So let me take back my earlier reply.
