I believe the problem is they have the list, about 2 meg in size, on 1 vista machine and they are still waiting for it to transfer to one they can print from.
It's clearly cheaper for Dell to pay their super cut-rate DHL shipping than to give Wal-Mart a portion of the profit and to ship to their DCs
You are probably correct that it will cost them more paying Wal-marts cut and shipping, but the shipping isn't a direct comparison. Even with their high volume shipping discount it is still cheaper for them to ship 1000's of PCs on pallets to a Wal-mart distribution center then to 1000's of individual homes.
How much of a need is there to make copies if you aren't going to give it to your friend? At about 30-50 gig per movie even the new terabyte drives would only hold 20+ movies. I take care of my DVDs and they stay in good shape, don't really need back up copies.
I agree, although I like WC3 I find it doesn't play as well as SC did. I find it harder to control, I feel too close to the action, the view should be from higher. As great as the SC2 screen shot looks, unfortunately it looks the same as WAR3 to me, everything is bigger than in SC and you see less square footage.
I am sure good things are happening, but NO amount of good things can make up for the damage we (The US) have done. I personally hold Bush and his clan responsible for ~3500 American deaths and more importantly over 1/2 million Iraqi deaths. Not to mention all the injuries, destroyed lives and a destroyed country. The SOB Bush has killed more Americans than Osama bin laden and more Iraqi's than Saddam had in a long time. We talk about catching Osama (or not..) We should be catching Bush. Everyday that goes by I find myself more furious over what he has done to my country (and what we have let him do). This is like some horrible nightmare. I am going to stop here so I don't get into a rant and type 3 pages. On an individual level our troops are good people, doing their job, but as a whole they have been sent to do a horrible thing.
It sounds like your teacher may have had the misconception that the universe is an expanding sphere, with stars and galaxies on the inside, and a void outside into which the matter expands.
#1- That was my thought also. The time it takes for a computer to boot is mostly due to the "slow" transfer of files from the HD. You would think it would boot a LOT faster and run a lot faster. The answer is probably that if you have enough memory on your computer, you aren't using your HD that much, mainly for loading programs and booting, the rest of the time it is running from memory that is faster than flash mem or the HD anyway.
There are a hundred different gods from Allah to Zeus, that you do not believe. A hundred gods you you do not believe and you consider fiction... exactly as an atheist does. An atheist simply does not believe a hundred-and-one.
This is another ridiculous aspect of religion, the idea that the more learned and knowledgeable a person is the more likely they are going to "hell". Please... Just believing that there is a "hell" and "devil" in this day and age is beyond me. It's like believing in witches during the Salem witch trials, and should have been left back in that age.
but what does your personal belief have to do with the discovery of a planet?
It gives background for why I am excited each time we find another planet (the more earth like the better). Each time we find a planet it shows how many there are and increases the probability that we are just 1 of countless inhabited planets. I think most if not all of us want to know how we, and the universe, came to be. A religious person will look forward to seeing his "god" after he dies and learning all the answers. I don't believe there is any "god" to meet after death (that doesn't necessarily mean I don't believe in life after death). My answers for the universe will need to come before I die. Meeting an alien race could bring that answer, or at least bring us a lot closer to understanding it.
Ohhhh, isn't that such a warm and fuzzy sentiment.
Funny how defensive people get when someone mentions "non religious thinking", also funny seeing them hide behind A.C.
WTF does your atheism have to do with anything?
It has to do with my vision of the universe we live in, and what I would like to see that would bolster my belief structure as well as being really cool:). The capitalized words in the middle of the sentence is more of an annoying typing habit I have, don't try to read to Much into it.
aren't really the "atheist" you proclaim to be.
Your right, I am secretly a Jehovah's Witnesses but I just don't know it.
I am not religious, I am an Atheist. I have no "God" to look forward to meeting (I don't believe anyone else does either but anyway). My biggest hope is that before I die we will have
proof of alien life, hopefully a spaceship will land in Times Square so there will be know question about it. This is a very exciting time, every time Scientists make a new discovery like this
I feel that much closer to my dream.
Just bought a Dell laptop for my father. He was finally comfortable with XP but I couldn't get anything but Vista on it. I wonder if they will let me "upgrade" to XP.
I used his Vista reinstall disc and Installed Vista on my Fastest Comp.,(sh, don't tell anyone) it's an Athlon XP 2500+ 1 gig ram and Geforce 6600 GTOC and it ran sluggishly and I had a lot of errors (I know its not a screaming machine but it's not bad). I reinstalled XP the next day. I see NO reason at all to want to upgrade.
Refer back to parent post, bloated Word/Vista, it takes 2 megs to save anything.

We have found that 5% of Internet user are identifiable by there browsing habits, all the other 95% do is surf for porn making it hard to narrow down.
Who told?
God I hope not

Man it's hot. It's like Africa hot. Tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot.
Did someone dig up Bob Hope again?
As long as "Ceti Alpha V" doesn't find me, I'll be happy.
What will all the freshmen drink?
It sounds like your teacher may have had the misconception that the universe is an expanding sphere, with stars and galaxies on the inside, and a void outside into which the matter expands.
It sounds like you may not be familiar with this.
Start a new "arms" race...
Very sorry, had to say it.
Isn't that close to what Vista has with ReadyBoost?

There is a difference between "I do not believe that god exists" and "I believe that god does not exist".
I think the difference is smaller than you think.
I do not believe that there is a banana on my head.
I believe that there is not a banana on my head.
It's the same point with more or less conviction.

Well put, Thank you.

Mini-Me: Are you a clone of an angel?
Foxxy Cleopatra: Ohhh how sweet. No, my mini-man, I'm not.
Mini-Me: Are you sure you don't have a little clone in you?
Foxxy Cleopatra: Yes I'm sure.
Mini-Me: Would you like to?
