Anandtech did a review on Gigabyte's i-RAM product that is available now. Basically it takes 4GB of DDR DRAM and treats it like a SATA drive. Booting windows from this yielded no speed up, generally because most of the time was spent waiting for hardware to initialise.
Who the fuck are you to go judging what other people like? If people practiced a little bit of understanding for other peoples preferences this world would be a better place.
This goes to all the people who say crap about the people who like Britney Spears. So what if they derive enjoyment from listening to her music? God forbid they don't like what YOU like.
I'm only 24:) but a big problem a while ago would be a waiter or a waitress in a restaurant who would take your credit card to make a payment and swipe the card through a swiper installed of the inside of their jacket. This combined with the signature that you would supply a couple of minutes later was enough to recreate your card and your signature pretty easily. This was part of the reason for the 3 extra digits on the back side of your credit card introduced recently.
Ep. 3 was awesome, IMHO. On par with the first 3. Maybe better just because it was dire, so tragic, and looked so good. Moreso of all three than eps. 4-6 were able to achieve. Plus, it answered so many questions I hadn't even realized I had! Now I know why the Jedi shun emotion and attachment. Now I know why the Sith are so dangerous, and why they can get rational people to support them despite that.
OK, disregarding bulb costs, projectors just aren't practical. Firstly you need a very dark room to get a acceptable image. This is fine if you have a dedicated room for the projector, but when you are using it as an everyday tv, it becomes a pain.
Also planning a room around a projector isn't easy. It is tough to get the inputs to the projector, especiallty if you live in a brick house, with concrete floors.
They take too long to warm up, which is an annoyance if you just want to turn on the TV quickly for a few minutes.
In summary, great dedicated movie TV, but a useless everyday TV.
I ended up going for the 37" Sharp LCD with Yamaha recevier...about $11k all up.
But it was funny because it was true! You really shouldn't make yourself out to be so much better than other people - actually the more people that use an auction site (or any trading place for that matter) make it a more competitive and worthwhile place to shop.
Oh and about ebay 'being on its way down' check out current analyst forcasts.
There is a difference with ad-ware and having ads in a program. Messenger has adds while you use it, but it does not bother you when you don't. Ad-ware has the effect of doing annoying things while you aren't using the program. That is what seperates the 2.
MythTV is absolutely excellent...but mythVideo is absolutely horrible.
Slow, poor interface, and troublesome with some files.
Please tell me I'm doing something wrong because its a pain to use.
I have a 9700pro and the game runs great. HQ setting, 4xAA, 30+ fps.
The only bad thing you have to live with is that because HQ mode needs 256MB of VRAM, you get a slight pause as textures are loaded in VRAM on entrance to a new section. It's worth it though for the higher quality textures.
Agreed entirely! I have a much higher threshold than you for 'evil' advertising, but if you consider the advertising method to be 'evil', don't use the site! Don't watch the TV! My argument is that if you aren't prepared to at least view the ads, don't use the resource. The webmaster/tv station will get the hint.
I don't know if you know, but the idea of 'marketing' and 'advertising' is to make your product have attention in a crowded market, and to inform the target audience.
You don't have to buy the items, but viewing the ad helps. Ocassionaly I've bought things because of ads. It happens you know. I don't know about every product in the universe. My grandmother uses ads to get the best deal on her grocery shopping every week. How is this bad?
Oh and BTW you only pay for access to the internet, not the content. I would to to see you have to pay for using Google every time you went. Seeing you have to do that would make me happy.
You are a selfish person, and I hope your wish comes true, definitely not for my sake (free websites are a godsend) but just to see you complain when you have to micropay everything.
Who cares about the people who download a linux distro and don't pay a cent to install it on there machines? If I was a software company that would be the LAST platform I would want to port to.
I would be happy to bet that I could count on my fingers the number of people here that have BOUGHT a piece of software that runs on linux. I can proudly say that I have (Matlab), but then again I don't use the fact that a distro is free as an advantage over windows. I think the programmers should be compensated...I don't like being dependent on them without anything in return.
As a side note, what will happen if Linux becomes ultra popular? More programmers will be needed, all working for free? Its not going to happen!
Market sales are the only figure that matters, and I do really think that the 5% is quite promising.
My worst computer accident would have to be calling dd with the wrong drive parameters (I always get the significance of the letter and number mixed up!) and I copied my boot partition over my music partition, 20GB in size.
My word nobody in my house was happy with me when I did that...
Please. Xvid and DivX are made to encode pristine perfect dvd source. Give it something with excessive noise and variability and it chokes. This is why you will see VCD and SVCD releases...they handle this much better and produce a much better result.
Damn it...and I was aspiring to start up a website on how to set up Point to Point Protocol on powerbooks. Now I'm going to have to think of a different domain.
A large amount of cache helps any chip, and is one of the reasons that the Pentium-M is such a strong performer. It is also not ridiculously expensive, so Intel must be doing something right.
I would still give anything to have one in my desktop, however.
Thats all super, but you do realise that the Pentium -M is based on the PIII as opposed to the P4? It shares an architecture with the PIII, making everything you said redundant.

Well said.

You should really do something for the people running the website. View their ads. Give something back. Stop being selfish.

This is also the reason diesel engines don't rev well.
