They have two models the 45 watt and 35 watt models. They are under $80 bucks and you can stickem in a desktop mobo.
The 35 watt can most likely be cooled with an ultra quiet fan.
I'm just pointing out that this ultra low end stuff. My system is currently 1.5 years old (i've lived without upgrading core components for several years).
I keep on having to point this out on Slashdot as many people don't realize how bad the performance of a via c3 is. The 1.0 ghz system is often times twice as slow as a 667 mhz Celeron in certain tasks.
I'd label this as an ultra low range processor not midrange. I've seen simimlar benchmarks with a 400 MHZ p3 beat it handily.
Benchies:

To provide evidence for my statement that C3's are extremely weak here is some benchies of the 1.0 ghz c3.
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20020605/c3-07.htm l
As you can see a 667 mhz Celeron handily beats it.
Unless we are talking about a totally different line here from the Epia's. This looks like it could be it.
But if it's related to the epia's then it's almost worthless. Last time i checked the epia's performance it was had half the performance of a celeron at similar levels.
Your better off with a mobile athlon xp (the 35 watt mobils, standard mobils are the 45 watt) permanently underclocked significantly (to 600mhz-1 ghz or so) and if possible with the voltage lowered for even less electricity.
If you want even less power usage there is transmeta.
I consider that small-medium poster size. A big poster imo would be be much larger then your squarish image here.
At least 5x the height. I hope your image would have still looked gorgeous.
Even a ten mp camera's picture isn't amazing if you really want to blow it up. An analogue camera's film stores MUCH more in terms of actual details. Digital camera's have come a LONG way and you can make some pretty big pictures (small-medium poster size with 10mp--which is just about the max) but if your making anything that is about the size of a large poster or bigger you have no choice but analogue.
The only pro's that can effectively use digital are those that deal with newspaper or full magazine page pics. Even in that case it can be an issue if you want to concentrate the image on a just a segment of your photo and blow that up.
It depends on the benchmarks you run... The architectures and the pluses and minuses of both processors are quite different. It really depends on what you need.
There are many things that the xp3000+ would be faster in and others it'd be slow in. For an overclocker like me i haven't bother looking at it because the 2500 will typically go beyond it anyway. Cost is similar to a celeron which be tons slower.
Right... if you have the proper hardware a nice $75 dollar cpu will easily outperform a p4 of twice the cost.
You can get a nice athlon xp barton 2500+ (1830 mhz) running to 3200+ almost easily with nvidia's nfoorce line of motherboards. Thats a $75 dollar cpu... Also shuttle makes a solid mobo an-35n ultra that has all the little bells and whistles of a standard mobo thanks once a gain to nvidia putting multiple features (lan, 5.1channel sound, ide controllers) in once chip and making it cheap ($55 at newegg).
Thats a powerful mobo and a chip for the price of a compareble intel cpu.
Cuz we all know microsoft is the largest corporation in the states. They may have a crapload of cash and a monopoly on desktop os's BUT they are not even close to being the largest corporation in the states.
Everyone in your community goes through the same lines. The reason caps were originally put is because a handful of people can easily use all the bandwidth in the area if uncapped. This would leave everyone else with a pitiful service.
17inch lcd + shuttle is not something a lot of people can easily afford. Although lan parties are popular among many gaming geeks, it is far from being mainstream.
Although you are joking they actually probably wouldn't endorse those? Why?
Three years after the japanese (not worldwide) launch in 2000 there were 50 million ps2's sold. Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3092795.stm
In this estimate which is at least three years if not longer then three years after the ps3's launch it will have sold 20 million less then the ps2. Not something that sony would endorse.
I'm sorry although your making a lot of good points but a lot of what you say is simply full of shit.
Even though it's not totally important it does help me show you how full of crap your post can be. Lets start with your last point about the t1... i dont' care what your location is whether it's the yukon in alaska or anywhere else. If your building has a freakin t1 line then you definately have the infastructure for dsl there. There is no way a location can get a t1 for less then dsl and that includes business class sdsl. T1's usually cause 5x to 10x that of business class dsl in good areas and if your in the middle of nowhere good luck getting the custom wiring necessary that will cost a fortune.
You also bet the entire police department (we all know that sheriff's = police too right) was using his net access. Then the guy who sued was simply an idiot because you don't provide such an amount of bandwidth for free for anyone.
Finally the location argument, my servers are 40 ms away from me all the way down in texas while i'm in ohio. I get a nice 10mb/s connection per each $120-$130 server. The only reason for which I'd have to pay 300K for such a site as small as that sheriff departments would be if i was an idiot and decided to build a subquality datacenter in my office building and get all the wiring+equipment+connections necessary for that.
Once again 3.5 million hits sounds like a lost but real big sites GOOGLE as you mention probably get that in under a minute not a month. Actually thats probably closer to yahoo as it has more clutter which equals more server hits per pageview. Yes i am assuming to much for this last point but being any more specific like you have is equally incorrect and pointless. That makes any specific math done without any details worth crap.
We simply don't have the data to see how, why, and exactly how much this person spent for the sheriff department. For all we know he could have been trying to regain all the money he used to start his business or he honestly made retarted decisions that cost him too much. The site itself is far from impressive.
NOPE....
This is a late reply but you can get divx with NO adware for free. Their basic version which includes the decoder anda basic encoder completely free. Their pro version can be bought or you can opt for the adware version.
I'm a smalltime webhost but your info is incorrect in that almost no real host uses bandwidths from t1 lines anymore. They are simply not cost effective and completely inadequate (one cable user at home can saturate your T1 which has a bandwith of 1.544 mbps which is about 175 kilobytes per second).
If your in a position that you need a large amount of bandwidth you can get 3x the bandwidth of a t1 for around $100 if you can manage our own server while keeping it at a larger isp's datacenter.
Actually it's 3.5 million hits per month. I get about 12,000 pageviews (3-4k being unique users) and over 100,000 hits per day. Thats over 3 million hits per month.
You can get that site hosted for under $20 dollars per month. Bandwidth would not be an issue unless the guy had large media files and giant image files in his pages. I am a webhost too btw:), dont' let the large misleading numbers confuse you. There is no way such a site gets 3.5 million different users per month. It would have to be one hell of a county.
It's an honest question. I don't know of any cellphone company that would provide a good number of minutes for even a small family for the cost of a landline which for us is $32 after some extra services and all taxes and fees. This is for unlimited calls and minutes too.
It's definately not going to be free... i wish the industry took a free codec like xvid and possibly modified it a bit and used that instead. In terms of quality xvid and wm9 are very close. That would mean that individual dvd players are cheaper even if by a few dollars.
Seem to be just as good as this codec. In any case i don't really mind as long as i can burn dvd's with this codec. I can fit FAR more in this format then using mpeg2. Saves me about 5x the dvd discs for same quality files.
This amount is based on me burning dvd video backups using codecs like xvid and others video files using wm9 codec to be played on the pc versus me burning in mpeg2 for standalone dvd players.

Wins for ultra low power+performance mix.

Exactly... I see a future in which we'll all be running LAMD.
Now I'm a 5ft 5 inch tall man now do i understand less then you because i'm shorter or more because I'm a man?
Moderators, this message was partly written as a joke. Please lighten up before you automatically moderate.
I hope it's better then the Patriot missile system's detection abilities. If i remember correctly it had a habbit of attacking british aircraft.
