By the way, I don't care McDonald's gave you your Ketchup for free, I want 50 cents for every packet you get. I own some of whats inside, but I'm not telling you what. Just send the money.
Security is pretty high. You can trust your keyboard to this sort of WPN, and not worry about a guy in a truck stealing your passwords.
Yes, but the question is will we have to worry about the CIA / FBI / NSA / Local law enforcement / etc.. remotely monitoring our keystrokes (and any other bluetooth traffic) without our knowledge?
AFAIK, and IANAL, but by a person 'broadcasting' this traffic via bluetooth, I believe that law enforcement wouldn't need any special 'permits' (search warrant/etc.) in order to use it as evidence in a court of law. I hope the encryption is un-fucking-believable, otherwise I'll be sticking to all wires (and well-shielded ones at that;) ).
your hard drive reads at a LOT faster than 60mbit/sec (60Mbps = 7.5MBps = 7.5MByte/sec) unless your computer is about 6-7 years old. most new, modern IDE drives are currently maxing out at around 50-60 MByte/sec which is equal to 400-480 MBit/sec (incidentally, my cheetah 15k.3 drive does between 600-890Mbit/sec, which is between 75 and 111 MByte/sec).
I have to assume that you said 533mhz fsb because you read that's what intel's fsb is. If that is the case, you, sir are a moron.
I hope you do realize that the 533mhz FSB that intel is claiming is really a 133mhz bus that is quad-pumped (similar to agp which is 66mhz, double- quad- or 8way-pumped to give higher bandwidth but worse latency). This is not the optimal solution, and is certainly a far cry from a true 533mhz fsb.
also- if you want the biggest, baddest machine available for $5000, you might want to look into dual athlons (or dual xeons if they will fit into the budget). Either one of these (at top available clock speed) will mop the floor with your dual G4 (yes, even in photoshop and in video editing), and will likely cost less to boot. Apples are for people who like their computer to look pretty as opposed to being more useful.

Yeah, they annoy me too. Most people seem to love them though, so I am satisfied with leaving my downloaded ones alone (now that I have this patch;) ) and just not add them to the mp3's that I make myself.
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this annoying feature-not-bug in windows explorer?
I mean, I don't need windows to tell me all the info on a file that I have just clicked on unless I open the properties page (and even that I could live without). The real problem is when you click on large media files and/or media files stored on a network drive, and you try to rename/delete them, windows usually has half of the files locked because IT is using them (and shouldnt be, IMNSHO).
Any help on disabling this feature would be really appreciated, as it is a royal pain in the ass.
If this happens, I would definitely be the first one in on a class-action lawsuit for the years of false advertising ('unlimited internet' with a limit, etc..).
This is complete bullshit.
I could see them doing something like charging $25/month for all the 'low usage' users, and giving them a bandwidth (say 768/128 Kbit) cap AND a 5GByte traffic cap. But don't forget about the geeks who helped you start it all so many years ago (what, like 5 or so, maybe 6 years?). Have a 'high usage' package for those people. Charge us more per month if you like.. I think i'd pay $80 or $90 per month (similar to the price of current 'business' class cable packages) if i got: (5Mbit/at-least-512Kbit) speeds, guaranteed low latency to the fringe of the provider's network (my ATTBI pings right now are ~200ms to the LOCAL GATEWAY) and unlimited traffic. It may cost more to support the geeks who download alot, and I am willing to offset those costs, but for christ's sake, don't fucking nickle-and-dime me. I want unlimited traffic, and i'm willing to pay more for it.
P.S. - Go ahead and use Bandwidth Shaping on the KaZaA ports, fine by me. But traffic to/from your local mail server/local NNTP server should NOT count against any cap. I want my NNTP.
Yeah, well, I'd rather have a failed maxtor with good (cross-ship the NEW, not refurbished, replacement drive) warranty service than a failed WD, IBM, Seagate, Fujitsu, Samsung, or whoever else is still in the businesss's drive with shitty warranty service...
Gillette might sell me the razor with one blade for $4, and then count on me buying 5-packs of blades for $10. If another large company, say, Walgreens, makes 'generic' blades that are compatible with Gillette razor-handles, and sells them cheaper (say $4 a 5-pack), that does not open Walgreens up to a lawsuit from Gillette.
Additionally, if i took my Gillette razor-handle that i bought, and modified it to work with schick razor blades, that does not open me up to a lawsuit from Gillette.
This whole fucking thing is about greed, and guaranteeing how much of YOUR money Microsoft gets. I'm sorry, but if you can't maintain game sales on quality of games ALONE (assuming you trust the masses to do the right thing and buy your game, which is just about the only way that this OLD ASS, OUTDATED business model is EVER going to survive), then you need some serious help.
Uhhh.. your problem is that you're looking at the reseller nearby:)
Maxtor makes IDE 5400rpm disks up to 160gb, with 320gb drives coming by January. They just aren't what the 'average joe' buys and therefore, aren't carried by many local stores. A search on www.pricewatch.com will go a LONG way to finding you a couple of these drives. You can also check out the press release at www.maxtor.com.
Actually, Maxtor's High-Capacity "Business-Class" drives (EXACTLY the same as their Consumer drives with more platters, sizes and speeds are as follows: 250GB/7200RPM, 320GB/5400RPM) have 3 year warranties as well. And it shows in the price ($300-400 MSRP).
As mentioned in a previous post, The ONLY reason the drive manufacturers are lowering the warranties, is so they can sell the "consumer" drives cheaper (no need to compensate for failed drives after 1 year anymore), and at a greater profit margin (if the extra 2 years adds $40 to the price, then you knock off $30 and your profit margins go up).
I think you mean "It's a Wonderful Life", and I'm not sure if you've ever studied film history at all, but both the cast and crew of "It's a Wonderful Life" are famous and well respected.
The BEST person to contact to "plant" a device or two like this, is the contractor they use to physically run wires through the walls. he has access to the network closets, and could likely even leave a wire dangling in the ceiling for your laptop. then you just plug it in to the network switches (among the rats nest of the other 300 or so cables going into the same switches) and you turn it on. it will likely never be noticed unless it is being REALLY actively invasive on the network (hi bandwidth usage, or other things that bog down the network).
By the way, I don't care McDonald's gave you your Ketchup for free, I want 50 cents for every packet you get. I own some of whats inside, but I'm not telling you what. Just send the money.
