Don't get me wrong Stiletto, I'm not trying to keep anyone from donating to the ACLU. That was just my decision based upon how I view this crazy little place we call Earth.
Yes I did mean mean NAMBLA, sorry for the typo. But I do believe lines can be drawn. As an older US citizen, I have seen the slow erosion of our freedoms. Particularly free speech and freedom of movement. I was so disgusted by the ACLU for defending that guy (his website actually) that I immediately withdrew all support for the ACLU. In short. I will not be a party to any perverts hiding under the guise of free speech.
That's right. As a true tin-hat, the FBI is out to get me, The CIA has my phone bugged and the NSA has already compromised my Linux firewall kinda guy, I'm always skeptical of any entity tracking my whereabouts.
I use Gentoo (1.3b) and need Java for various reasons. I followed the instructions at
http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/javafromsc ratch.txt and it worked perfectly.
Another good argument for switching to the new gcc compiler is processor specific optimizations. For example; I set my CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS with "-march=pentium4 -mpfmath=sse -msse2" and so on. What I get is a highly optimized linux systems for my P4 box. And it's REALLY fast.
Lets not forget that that Linux is completely seperate from the graphical environment. And... Since Microshit is still light years ahead of KDE or Gnome, this gives all the Open source programmers a chance to develop a completely new standard. I view this with optimistic eyes. Beat trhe hell out of M$ for monoliptic praticies while developing a new (and better) Open Source graphical environment.

My 2 cents worth...
card carrying member of the ACLU, (I stopped donating because of their defense of MAMBLA)It's good to see them fight a worthy cause.
a great site and will be missed. Fortunately we still have other great sites like linuxtoday and distrowatch.
A moment of silence... As I flush the toilet 21 times.

TRUST NOONE!
It's offical - M$ apologists have no sence of humor !
Send up M$ to claim the rock as IP... Then watch the rock crumble under the pressure.
PROBLEM SOLVED !!!
