If you didn't catch it, did you notice the 'obviousness' factor in those examples? Associating data into multiple categories seems pretty obvious, as databases have been doing just that for a long time.
Or like Slashdot has been doing for ages. As this slashdot article is filed under the categories: news, social.
Slashdot better watch out, Follower Technologies might want to look at their source code too.
Is there ever any news of mergers that hit Slashdot that aren't probed by the EU?
It's the whole idea of competition regulation departments in the government to probe mergers of large companies. It would be news if they didn't probe a merger.
I don't see the need for DVORAK. Sure, you might be able to type faster in case you are writing plain English. But that's not very useful to me, because I'm either programming (which isn't plain english) or typing Dutch or English. Adopting DVORAK doesn't benefit my any more or less than QWERTY. (Well, maybe less because certain keys I often use in programming are now on harder to reach locations).
Anyway... DVORAK seems to focus on people writing more text. But instead people should write less text with a higher quality.
I get 25ms latency in an ideal online gaming situation
And stop there. No remember how great gaming was on a TFT with a latency of 25ms. So before you are even have to worry about bandwidth. Just add the latency of everything from your fingers to your monitor (input latency + network latency + processing latency + display latency) and see how well that is going to work.
Ok this is getting rather ridiculous. What's the point of having such a controller? If you're doing all that running around and stuff anyway, why not just go out and... you know, do some actual sports?
But that's dangerous, you could hurt yourself doing real sports. It's much safer to run around inside of your home playing virtual sports.
Your first mistake was not reading the PHP manual. As far as I can remember integers in PHP have always been signed. Not sure when this part was written in the manual but, but considering you are refering to the MAXINT constant it was probably there when you wrote the code:
The size of an integer is platform-dependent, although a maximum value of about two billion is the usual value (that's 32 bits signed). PHP does not support unsigned integers. Integer size can be determined using the constant PHP_INT_SIZE, and maximum value using the constant PHP_INT_MAX since PHP 4.4.0 and PHP 5.0.5.
And after that:
Integer overflow
If PHP encounters a number beyond the bounds of the integer type, it will be interpreted as a float instead. Also, an operation which results in a number beyond the bounds of the integer type will return a float instead.
PHP has a lot of wonky behavior, but at least this is clearly documented.
Not really. I do remember Unreal Tournament for Windows, Mac OS9, Linux, PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast. But can't remember ever seeing Unreal Tournament for the XBox.
A lot of companies announce DLC for a game right after, or even before it was released. Buy doing this they hope people will not trade in the game, and thus reduce the number of second hand copies that are available.
The way you play games can change over time. I'm not always in the same mood when I play games, sometimes I like to goof off. Sometimes I like to just race around. If the game adapts to the way I was playing it will limit me the way I want to play the game. Adaptive difficulty is better. If you have problem beating foo X, then after a while foo X will become easier. If you are stuck in a maze or unable to solve a puzzle, provide hints through game related mechanism (for example, receive a phone call with an hint, or let the PDA "compute" a solution).
I've dumped proprietary applications for the same reasons people dump open source alternatives.
And there's also the price of a lot of proprietary applications, it's often not worth the improvements I gain.
Imagine the bandwidth of a truck full of pigeons.

But what should I do when one half is standing, and the other half is sitting?

So, does this make it the most expensive coffee in the world?
I've seen people post on Slashdot. I've never posted on it. ...
D'oh!

I wish I could try this scrum in a safe environment, I need some sort of ScrumVM.
Whooooosh!

Common typo, what they meant to type was "popular opinion over climate change".

Isn't this insanely expensive? I thought the return on ads was already very low. How is this going to be any better.
I think giving George Lucas access to the raw footage was a poor design choice.
I also had to create slides for a presentation for my degree, but that doesn't make it academic.
How would I paste that in IRC, IM, email, etc.?
What's academic about writing an OS in assembly?
Now, remember UnrealTournament for XBox?

Yes, but the government has buried that research. I already have quite proof for that. You can read about that in my newsletter.
Mac is also a PC.
