No they didn't - they were considering it regarding the fuel pump indicators or whatever they were having trouble with (they needed 1 to work out of 4 - one was being a little finicky). I believe it was more of a realization that that little bit of their safety code was a little bit silly.
So if you put up a door with a neon "Open" sign and someone walks in thinking its a business you see that as the door subverting your intent and the person that walks in liable?
No. The fact that your door is unlocked doesn't mean that I can walk into your house. When on earth did "This object let me do it" become a standard of legality?!
This is a bit different. For your analogy to be apt this exchange would have to happen with the door: you (or your wifi card): hi, can I connect to this network? door: yes. you: can I have an ip address? door: yes, 192.168.0.102, dns 192.168.0.1, gateway 192.168.0.1, you can have this for 30 days.
THAT is what is happening technically. If the "wifi" were secured you would see: you: can I come in? door: no. Or no response at all, which would of course still indicate no. The problem of course becomes - which open wifi is "free" and which is not? My local airport has free wifi advertised and the SSID is the default cisco one so the default SSID argument is dead in the water.
Well, not to plug anything, but eve has a slightly different take on it. Experience is gained over time, whether you're logged in to play does not matter, each month you'll get about 1million skill points (more depending on base attributes and implants). Due to specialization and so forth, a 2million skill point player can be 90% as effective as a 30 million skill point player. Skill of the player thus takes more of an effect than the skill of the avatar in most cases.
The game has some other nifty features, like a real market, and I really like it since I don't have to login and grind 100s of MOBs to keep up with the rest of my friends. In game money is what things are based upon, and thats not as bad to deal with as skill. Just something to look at if you don't like some of the more traditional RPGs.
Ok, that makes more sense, I had read the complaint at that point and didn't realize what the grandparent (of your) post was saying, hence I asked the question out of complete confusion.
Hes using a VPN and CVS to syncronize the code database to his laptop, working on it, then sending back the.diff's. It even sounds like they bought a network appliance with VPN for just this purpose.
On a side note - the corp has a contact form here. Not that I encourage improper use or anything, in fact I'm sure some/.'ers would have some business to do with this company now that they know it exists.
If you played KOTOR2 and set Revan as darkside you'd know that the Sith basically fell apart afterwards - Revan had to go fight some mysterious evil in the outerrim - without Revan's power no one could control the star forge and it sort of fell apart. When you're on Korriban you find a message from Bastilla about all this.
Oh, and Main/Juhani/Bastilla kicks ass. Certainly beats throwing Jolee in there any day of the week.:)
To be REALLY Pedantic photons accelerate to the speed of light in a vacuum all the time - they accelerate away from it too. In fact - speed of light in water is.75c - where c is speed of light in a vacuum. In fact, the equation for image distortion in a material is the speed of light in a material over the speed of light in a vacuum (which is roughly the same as air).
This stuff is all fairly well understood experimentally. Newton's stuff was all very well understood experimentally at the time - of course he had no idea why it all worked at the molecular level or anything. I imagine we have no idea how light really works at a level even lower than we understand now - and thats what hope for FTL really has its basis on. Newtonian and Keplerian motions don't explain the orbits of (all of our) planets (Mercury), I imagine there'll be some exception to relativity eventually other than all of quantum mechanics. Such is how science works.
The problem with a movie/tv show is: 1. is revan male or female? 2. is revan light side or darkside? 3. (if lightside) did Revan kill Bastilla? 4. (if revan male) does he fall in love with Bastilla? 5. (if revan female) does she fall in love with Carth. 6. (if revan darkside female) does Revan kill Carth? 7. Is Juhani in the party? I think thats it for KOTOR1. In KOTOR2 you have this stuff premangled into two decisions [male|female], [ds|ls]. For a movie/tv show you'd have to decide on ONE of each, sort of killing the "open endedness" of the story. Not that thats particularly a bad thing though.
That said of course - I do want to know what happened to Revan during the times of Kotor2.:)
What the hell, theres something wrong with your system admins then. Pentium 3 coppermines and tualatins around 1 ghz kick ass - in fact, intel STILL MARKETS THEM AFTER FOUR YEARS! Yes, you can buy a BRAND NEW laptop with a 1.2ghz tualatin in it! Throw in a gig of ram and you won't notice how "old" it is technologically. Of course - I wouldn't be surprised if you had such troubles with a 1.5 ghz williamette.
Throw in half a gig of RAM or more and anything in the last decade can handle all web browsing (including flash and java crap), word processing, and use photoshop and etc. - if not more slowly for the latter stuff due to the processor. I have a pentium 3 1.2 ghz tualatin laptop with a gig of ram thats still going just as strong with modern apps (obviously not going to run Doom 3 on it) as it did when it came out 4 years ago. I also deal with a dual 600mhz katmai xeon (katmai with ECC cache) with 768MB of ECC RAM thats still going strong - stronger and more stable than any other piece of shit dell sends me these days.
Of course, for some people after doing all the symbolic math they completely forget arithmatic so need to punch 2 times 2 in to the calculator to make sure that it still equals 4.:)
Its actually 20,000 years, according to KOTOR anyways. That game, set 2000 years before the "main line" star wars has a fair bit of racial biases and etc. Best part is when a slaver comes up and asks to buy one of your female party members.:)
I'm curious how many people spent how many hours for that $2.768 million. If this is like many lawsuits and law firms (remember, these are businesses employing attorneys, clerks, secretaries, janitors, etc.) taking on this kind of case for long periods of time that could actually be a very reasonable sum.
Not knowing specifics of this case of course its hard to comment. If this was going to one guy then yes that would be silly high. The question of course becomes how many people and how long?
I know this isn't a very popular opinion on/. but 2.7million is not all that much compared to some previous class action settlements...
Of course, on the other extreme - you aren't going to learn u dv substitution by just watching an instructor go over it in class -you actually have to practice it. Whats important with studies such as this is to figure out the happy medium where the average student learns the material through practice without getting burned out. Thats probably a very difficult equilibrium to get to.
Really? I'd expect that transactions of that size would not be that uncommon - for example when you purchase a house. If "the government" really is reported all this information than I'd imagine that it wouldn't be of much use simply due to the massive volume.
Apollo in its entirety cost 24billion USD in 1960s dollars (this is the first article blurb on google, I'm doing a quick response off the top of my head + google). NASA's budget is about 14 billion 2005 USD. Using an inflation calculator, the approximate value of 24 billion 1965 dollars in 2005 dollars is 142 billion USD. I do not know about the timescales involved in quoted figures, but if we assume it was for the approximately 6 years that apollo was called apollo, then apollo cost 23 billion 2005 USD a year. It should be noted that approximately 1/4 of NASA's budget is used on manned spaceflight - the rest goes to unmmaned spaceflight and aeronautical research.
Assuming all the above is currect, which would be quite a resounding approval for google and "I'm feeling lucky" and quickly throwing together a post before bed using memory, then the Apollo had approximately 5 times the budget that the current manned spaceflight program does... We're not getting to mars for 1/5th the cost of the moon. Hell, we apparently can barely stay in orbit for that!
No they didn't - they were considering it regarding the fuel pump indicators or whatever they were having trouble with (they needed 1 to work out of 4 - one was being a little finicky). I believe it was more of a realization that that little bit of their safety code was a little bit silly.

Just tell that to Al Gore...

Salzenberg is a spammer? A cursory look on google didn't turn anything up, could you elaborate?

Hmmm, seasons 5, 6 and 7 of DS9 as played out by the characters in TheOC would be interesting. :)

No, but interfering with FCC recognized (IE LEGAL OWNERS) of a slice of spectrum is a violation of federal and international law.

Replace Quake with tribes and you might have an arguement.
That would have to be 30,000 years in the past. :)
I think KOTOR would make a good movie myself, but thats beside the point. Exar Kun would be good too...
