England rules the waves, and if you say different, the beeb will crush you. Not through the actions of one person or any campaign, just by ridiculing you over and over again until you are gone.
The Brits never had the revolution, instead, they were given cricket and an attitude of NEVER ever attacking the establishment.

This is an "anarchy" group of comedians battling it out with church leaders... this is Britains idea of revolution, a cozy chat over tea. Of course I don't expect John Cleese to loose his temper but still, in the world of the beeb, the status quo rules supreme. You can be an atheist as long as you still celebrate Christmas. You can see this with the BNP, a nasty bunch but when Brown got an egg thrown at him and punch the man, the beeb made sure to show the entire clip. When a bnp was spit in his face and he threw a punch, only the punch was shown. It is how the beeb reacts to any who dare to think different, outside the world of Oxford graduates and us know us. Newsnight is rather famous for hardhitting questions, except to Muslims. Watch the above clip, even back then, it was known that you could make fun of Christians but not of Muslims. 30 years ago now?
And the beeb is happy to go along with it. Count the number of black quests on its talk shows. You don't need more then one hand. It is not anti-black but it only shows black that are not to integrated and not to angry. Same with Muslims, nicely sanitized only please, no asking the really difficult questions. The beeb would be truly happy in a world where the conservatie and labour party changed seats every election without ever actually dealing the collapsing country because that is the role they are used to.
Take this resignation. The guy leaves after 5 months, gets half a million bucks. BAM! That sheds a different light on it alright. It is not that the establishment in England is corrupt, it is more a "this is how we always did things and if they were okay 500 years ago, they are okay today". See the expenses scandal. The elite take care of themselves and their own and the rest?
I am not surprised that the beeb looked the other way while children were raped. What is a few kids to the happiness of one of their own? Remember that NOBODY at the beeb reported this. Not a single one. Not the co-workers and not the janitors cleaning up. Semen stains in the dressing room of a child star after a kid party? This kind of stuff doesn't go unnoticed but it did go unreported.
And if this went unreported, how much more did? Scandals never exist alone. Who protected who for what reason? And if an internal scandal went unreported, what external scandals went unreported for the sake of peoples careers?
Some of the faces of the beeb been around a long time and they influence public opinion to this day. But what are their motives? Their secrets?
In my own country, Holland, after the expense scandal, the claims by Dutch politicians were investigated and found to be embarrassing to the extreme. Nothing wrong whatsoever. BORING! So it shows this all encompassing corruption is NOT the norm, not just the cost of doing business.
But cases like this cast doubt on everyone touched by it. If this was hidden, what else was hidden. And if something else was exposed, why was that exposed and not this?
The beeb has some hard question to answer and so far, it isn't.
Does a startup get financed because the investors hope that they will get a share of the startups profits from sales of their product in the future OR from said startup being bought up without ever generating a profit?
I own a netbook running Linux and over the last two years it has gone from a slideshow when playing high-dev mkv movies to playing them smoothly EVEN in windowed mode when the window is larger then the physical screen.
Now unless you are suggesting the hardware in a netbook updated itself, or the movie files morphed themselves, it can only be that the software has gotten faster.
It is true software tends to grow, but we also expect more of it to compete. Bookmarks in your browser? How decadent, what is wrong with a seperate bookmark program? Oh, you want it inside the browser? Well, you are bloating it then.
For movie players, it is not done anymore NOT to have fancy subs but the code for that increases the size of the movie player. I prefer mplayer and its variants because it comes with its own codecs meaning that even under windows, it just works, but it is bloated with codecs because of this.
Sure, WinAmp was an extreme example, do I really need to play games on my media player? No. And the market decided and it died. For countless other programs the market has decided that the bloat is wanted. See how many run mplayer with a shell just because they can't grock using the file manager as the play list and edit configs by hand.
Unless you use the cli for everything, you are the causer of bloat. You nasty person you.
Really, you are a moron, what base tower are they going to connect to? Or do you think 3g is some kind of miracle magic internet thingy that just works anywhere?
Morons like this are on a tech site but know nothing about tech or reality. North Korea might have cell towers but they aren't connected to the rest of the world. All you will do in NK is you turn on a cellphone is give the position of someone who is going to spend sometime in a labor camp. Your cellphone won't connect but its position will be accurately enough determined through triangulation.
No doubt some equal noob is going to shout something about darknet or whatever cyber crap they heard but never understood. The reason you can hide things on the internet in the west is because nobody is looking. The easiest way to stop people from communicating is NOT to listen to what they are saying but to kill anyone who says anything at all.
In NK there won't be a crack team trying to break your encrypted mails, if you don't belong to the elite, you send an email, you die. End of story. You belong to the elite and they can't plainly see it as readable, they ask you through a rubber hose.
In NK there is no TSA to try to catch your out at the airport, they catch you at the airport, you die. End of story.
In NK there is no drone trying to see if you grow weed, you use electricity, your door is busted open to see what you are using it with.
This is a dictatorship, they don't ask why you are broadcasting, broadcasting ANYTHING is illegal.
Below some idiot talks about a mesh network... yeah because creating a netword of transmitters in a place nobody trusts each other is going to last anytime at all.
REALLY, this is supposed to be a tech site not a site for dweebs who heard a word and run with it.
THINK for a second what total control means. NK information comes in through the ass and goes out. Film rolls smuggled inside and if you survive the border, ANYONE finds out what you done, you are dead and your family is dead. This is a place where MILLIONS died and NOTHING happened. This is not a nice dictatorship like nazi germany, this is something the world has never seen before, total control.
Can just everyone on this site accept that ANY transmitter will be detected? This was true as long back as WW2. The only thing possible is to create a transmitter that requires practically no power, can be moved very fast and broadcast near instantly and it tiny. Then you might get out a burst on the go and not be found. And you would have to do that all the time in a country where if someone turns you in, they will eat something besides grass.
Dropping tablets with 3g? So dumb it really deserves not just mockery but vilification.
Que mod down by some butthurt noob whose teachers all told him he was special.
In Holland the Big 11 (largest employers) have actually said they want the strong unions of the past decades back because although they didn't always agree, at least they could negotiate and sort things out. The big companies want "The polder model" back and preferably without the 3rd party, the government, messing things up again.
It is outside north-west Europe (England excepted) that unions seem to have such a terrible relationship, it is an English/Italian thing, to snobby to admit you are just a wage slave at the mercy of your boss and to corrupt to handle money and power. You can't compare a NW European union with an American one but then the relations between workers and bosses are totally different, Romney would not have gotten 50 of the votes in Europe, he would have been seen as the total asshole he is and be spitted out by anyone who works for a living.
You might have noted that in America, many of the working class, call themselves middle class. Here is a hint: If you live paycheck to paycheck and getting fired is going to be an economic disaster, you are working class. Lower class your economy is already a disaster even with a paycheck. Middle class is financially comfortable. And that doesn't mean you can just avoid your credit cards from being canceled each month but that if something major happens, it isn't an immediate issue, loose job, take a year to find a new one. Upper class means you are comfortable for life even if something major happens.
Quick test for Americans: Did it surprise you to find out that YOU are part of the 47% Romney considers to be a leech? Did you even dare to find out if you are in that group?
First off, it is Apple, an American company who outsourced all its production to China. It is Americans who think iPhone production is to complex for Americans.
Second, building a highly automated plant is NEVER about labor costs. It is about avoiding import duties. Assemble it in the US and it is a US product exempt from import duties and hence cheaper. If Americans were normal people it would also generate some good will, creating jobs in a down economy, that is of course terrible! How dare they insult you? This from the same Forbes that cheers all outsourcing. Damn those Chinese, how dare they outsource back to you! Next thing you know people will actually be having jobs and not leeching from the state!
You will note if you follow the articles, that it is Market Watchers (people who didn't see the crash coming) who talk about iPhone production being to complex. It ain't even for sure yet what will be produced or if the factory will come at all but hey, market watchers already know why it will be producing X and not Y. Even if they don't know what X is.
As for training... gosh... maybe they will train the Americans in English so they can choose between city or sites and not make up new words. Oh wait I forgot, training on the job. BAD. People should have all the required skills from the start or you will bitch you can't find any workers locally and have to import them or outsource.
Indeed they have, the axis of evil is on the march. Pity it is the Italians, feared by none, their tech out of date before the first shot is fired.
I haven't used skype in ages, Xbox is the only gaming platform I don't own, W8 phones need to be insanely subsidized and when you google for "sales record W8 phone" you get pictures of thumble weeds.
Windows 8 is universally despised and it just a copy cat of Unity and Gnome in an attempt to alienate users.
Maps? MS has maps? Gosh... that should tell you something about it, honestly didn't know they had.
Office... they had that for over a decade, for matter they also have had phones etc etc for that long.
You are saying that MS has all the tools to lock people in. Yes. That is what everyone else thought... and then iOS and Android happened and showed that the lockin wasn't as tight as everyone thought. Rim got big because they locked you into exchange and surely that was essential. Where is Rim now? Where is the exchange lockin? GONE! Suddenly every boss has a macbook and insists the office systems work with it and screw MS attempts to create a windows only network.
I have no doubt that MS would love to see the parents posts brainfart happen for real but they had two decades to get it done, why should they succeed now when for the first time there is some serious competition and the computing landscape has changed forever?
No doubt oztiks grandparent was in that bunker, grasping his headless dead leader screaming "come on, we got the enemy right were we want them, we can win it!"
The battle has been lost, all MS can do right now is try to not loose the office desktop too.
When both the Financial Times and The economist support a (worst ever) socialist for US president over a republican candidate with a business background, then you know said republicans plans must be truly bad. It is not like these newspapers drank the koolaid, they are very reluctant to endorse Obama are sad to do it but they have no choice. Romney would be just to all destructive to tolerate as president.
But hey, you know more about economy then two leading newspapers.
Admit it, you just supported the republicans in thinking their anti-science and hatred of all human beings policies won them your vote. Because they know their economic policies were crap, that is why they kept flip flopping on it. This election wasn't about the economy for the republicans, it was about saving the south from civil rights. And you voted for them.
They will both kill your for a dollar but the Democrats won't rape you first then skin you and steal your kids.
Read up on the antics Republicans went through to stop people from voting, 7 hour queues? There are countries just coming out of war that have this sorted better.
Even top economic newspapers said people should vote for Obama because Romney just lied to much and his economic policies made no sense.
People joke about choosing the lesser of two evils but that is still a difference. With a democrat, there is always a chance he will do something decent by accident. With a republican, that will NEVER ever happen.
The funny thing seems to be that Romney as Governor was pretty moderate but got persuaded/forced by the extremist to change his tune and it lost him the election. If you look at the states Romney won in, those are exactly the states no EU person should ever go to, redneck states all and you might think you are right-wing in the EU but you are NOTHING compared to a moderate Texan.
The republicans basically tried to win the election on abortion, gay rights and drugs. These are things the extremists care about but not if it is a choice between their job and something that doesn't affect them. Two states even voted for legal recreational drug use. This puts two American states miles ahead of the most liberal EU countries. That is... well... republican attitudes couldn't be father removed from the voter on the street.
Oh yeah, they also objected to Obama bailing out the car industry because you know, creating jobs, that is something that the voter really hates... and they seriously thought they had a chance in Ohio were Obama basically rebooted the economy?
That it is even so close shows that many Americans would cut of their nose to spite their face. "Oh I hate gays so much I will vote for the guy who hates my guts and thinks I am a leech and should go and die already."
No matter how bad things are under the democrats, the only certainty in the universe is that under the republicans it will be worse.
Regardless of how well Apple is doing, it is PROFIT that counts.
An example for the brain-dead like Scowler: If I sold 1 dollar bills for 99 cent, my revenue would be sky high but I wouldn't last as a business for very long.
Idiots who judge company by revenue are the ones who lost big in the first Internet bubble.
The thing to remember is that once Nokia and Rim and Sony were unstoppable giants as well. Shit happens. Apple should knows this better then most, they nearly disappeared once before.
And this people is why America is doomed. On a tech site, filled supposedly with nerds, someone actually claims that in a piece of high tech equipment, design is more important for usefulness then the tech inside that allows it to do what it is supposed to do. Yes, rounded corners are more important for a phone then the tech that makes it able to make phone calls...
Oh, I am fully willing to accept that siddesu is just a moron who doesn't know anything about the patents in question but still, this is supposed to be a tech site. Claiming $30 bucks for design vs $1 for vital tech... it is clearly insane. Only managers who spend more on advertising then on development think that. Don't worry if it works, we just sell it with more advertising. It is actually lethal and has been proven so before, the first rise of the Japanese car industry happened over Detroit just adding more fins rather then innovating.
People don't read the full specs...
Yeah because when you are buying a phone, being able to make phone calls with it, that is just details. It is the styling! You might not be able to use it but damn, does it look good!
But hey, if those countries are your worst example of strong government countries, then Somalia must be a paradise for you with a weak government. Or does republican logic as always work one way only?
Just like say Japan did to the European colonies and Germany did to almost all of Europe?
There is indeed lingering resentment and the Japanese indeed did not apologize or pay damages unlike the Germans but to think this matters on a high level unless it is convenient (when either side needs to divert attention from internal problems) is childish.
The higher-ups have no morals, they are perfectly willing to deal with former enemies often before the last victims have stopped twitching. See McArthur and the rebuilding of Japan. Prosecuting Japanese war criminals? Far to inconvenient when massive contracts are to be won.
Of course there are many NZ people who feel that way, who do you think voted in this government that bent over for American interests?
Any country will have a large number of sheep, NZ is rather famous for it. Just that most countries do not allow sheep to vote, NZ does and even lets them run the country.
Perhaps you should have told that to Steve Jobs or Steve Ballmer and the likes. Richer then rich but their public image is down the drain with all the other turds.
Sure but if I use a proxy to get lower iTune prices, it is against Apple law. And if I make use of the right to legally download music in Holland, I am a pirate!
But if a company uses loopholes to avoid paying billions, they are perfectly entitled and not at all amoral assholes.
I guess we know how you will be voting tomorrow. And that is your right, just don't bitch when your taxes are increased and your job is outsourced.
Me to tech department: "Hi, I need to setup a FTP server with anonymous access only for people to download our companies installer who have problems getting it through http"
BSD user: FTP is insecure because password are plain text.
LInux user: You can run proftp for a simple open ftp with just one directory in a chroot jail so it is perfectly safe and accessible.
Basic openbsd is plain useless and out of date, start updating and adding stuff you need, and they stop counting security holes. If openbsd was a car, it would be the safest car in the world. It would also never ever have moved out of the garage.
In the real world you need to trade security for functionality. Let BSD guy loose on your systems and nobody can hack into them, and neither can anyone use them. You get the perfectly secure system and all your developers and users leave you because the system is unusable. The BSD admin will not only insist on 20 character passwords that are a mix of characters, numbers, symbols and arcane spells but insist usernames follow a similar pattern. And for mobile access as well. 4 digit unlock on company phone? NOOOO! INSECURE!!!! 12 char password atleast and mix of caps, characters, reading symbols and dna sample!
And then they wonder why everyone spends all their time working around the system. Was so bad in one company that all work was getting done on laptops over mobile connections because getting things done through channels just took to fucking long.
Next BSD release will be called concrete, you poor concrete over your computer and it will be very secure!
Such arrangements NEVER stand on their own and part of the whole FRAND deal involves cross-licensing. I got 1 patent, you got 2, we cross-license and since I only got 1 and you got pay I pay you some money as well to balance things out.
FRAND is not a shop that sells licenses to any buyer, it is far more complex. And Apple has no patents to cross-license. It also knowingly avoided paying for years and refuses to pay those years. It acted in bad faith. That means gentleman agreements are out the door.
Do some research and you find that prices do indeed vary for FRAND licensing depending on the parties involved. It is NOT one price for all.
The mobile phone companies do a LOT of cross licensing, everyone contributes a bit, this bring the price down. Apple doesn't cross license, so it has to pay more.
And just take a look at what Apples partner in crime demands per android phone in license fees.
American definition of illegal immigrant: Anyone who entered the country after me.

This election wasn't about the economy for the republicans, it was about saving the south from civil rights. And you voted for them.
Democrats are crooks.
Republicans are evil.
Hope Kim DotCom sues the shit out of them.
Rich people can pay for a good public image...
Megauploads servers were not in the cloud, didn't protect them and you can encrypt data in the cloud.
So do you have an actual point or just blowing smoke?
I am a Linux user because of this exchange:
