any linux user can tell you that you can be just as happy and productive on a linux system as you are on win2k, if not even more so. the problem is, you just don't know it. and setting up a dual-boot system can be very daunting for someone who has never done it before. it takes some guts and a lot of curiosity to a.) learn fdisk, fips, etc. or b.)just totally wipe out a windows installation and setup red hat 8 or suse 8.1.
every single new distro that i try out is miles ahead of the last one (suse 8.1 vs. 7.3, red hat 8 vs. 7.3, etc), and it amazed me how hard people must work to get linux to progress so quickly. people's perception of linux is like thinking of a crippled version of windows that will really suck. (well it sort of is, but gets less and less crippled every day). i can't wait to see how it looks even one year from now. then many new users will be very amazed and what's been going on all this time.
I really don't think that the apple section on slashdot necessarily constitutes a real advertisement like the one's we're used to. Sure, there's articles about silly things like iPods signed by madonna, but when's the last time you saw an online ad that had a forum for people to either talk about how they want that ipod or how much they hate it? and not all the stories are in apple's favor. i think the apple section falls more under the "review" category more than anything. as for the amazon links, i dont know.
did you notice that the #2 Google result on your link was the Ask Slashdot story itself??

Sun vs. OpenBSD?

With the release of Sun's LX50 server, we can see that Sun has already noticed what the market is deciding and have gone along with the trend, marking a complete turn-around from their anti-linux stance 2 years ago (see Comdex 2000).. I don't think they liked making the change in their public image, but it had to be done in order to keep Sun Microsystems as profitable (or moreso) as they have been.

Netscape 4+ or Internet Explorer 4+
(NOTE: Netscape 6 is not supported)
IE 4??? Netscape 6 isn't supported? I would bet a few dollars that a current mozilla release (or opera, konqueror, galeon, pheonix, etc. etc.) just might be a little bit more functional than IE 4.
i already bought the GBA "cybernetic upgrade" tv adapter on a trip to hong kong.. it's not licensed by nintendo though, it makes your GBA big and bulky, requires it's own power source, and costs about the same..i just installed it on a second GBA that i had laying around (they're very cheap in asia). look into it if you don't have a gamecube but you are as annoyed with the GBA screen (w/no afterburner) as many other people are.

He should really be careful.. sitting too close to the tv is bad for your eyes.
giving an interview with your real name and location to a national newspaper does seem a bit foolish, doesn't it?
