    here is an interesting case of gun control (banning handguns) vs. gun ownership (basically requiring the ownership of a gun). It seems that both towns are small and both are suburbs, one near Chicago and one near Atlanta. It's not strictly fair to compare Kennesaw, GA to Washington, DC as I have done before because of racial factors and size of the town, though DC is the one with strict gun laws and is consistently the murder capital of America. This comparison, however, appears to be more fair.

    yes question the higher education....

    or did you miss the point that he was making that compared the 17000 (where maybe 3000 are legitimate) gun deaths to the 2500000 people per year that use a gun to prevent a serious crime.
    for guns:
    lives saved:deaths-->147:1 (2500000:17000)
    for airbags:
    lives saved:deaths-->28:1 (5000:177)

    maybe now you can understand that he wasn't talking about legitimate uses vs. illegitimate uses of guns as compared to saved lives vs. deaths with air bags, because, well, that wouldn't make any sense because there's no basis for comparison...maybe if he'd included the number of legitimate airbag deaths and the number of illegitimate airbag deaths then your post would be relevant.

    If you're unfortunate enough to have a CapitalONE account and wish to use their online services you will probably end up needing to use IE. (It does say that it supports some versions of Netscape, but I don't want to install Netscape 4.anything on my computer).

    If you aren't running one of the approved browsers, it redirects you to a page that tells you which ones are allowed. Also, header spoofing in Konquerror doesn't seem to trick the site into allowing access.

    It may or may not be the same now, but it hasn't been very long since I've had a CapitalONE card.

    why not just have the big backbone carriers block the *AA nets from the internet completely? That would keep the carriers from having to worry about blocking stuff the RIAA saw online. Also have in the TOS for home connections that if you work for the *AA then you are not allowed to use the internet from home either! If you're found to be moonlighting as a non-employee let there be large fines and immediate disconnection. Then, since the *AA won't be able to tell what's going down on the web, they won't be able to make excuses for an outdated business model, and will just have to accept the fact that they're losing sales because of crap music and economic wobbling, instead of blaming it all on internet file sharing.

    NP stands for Nondeterministic Polynomial.

    ie, it can be completed by a nondeterministic machine in polynomial time. The main problem with NP algorithms is that there aren't any nondeterminisitic machines around. IIRC the reason that 24fps is good enough for movies is that there is motion blur that tricks the mind into believing that it's actually motion. With computer games and the like there is no motion blur between frames so a higher frame rate is required to create the illusion of fluid motion.
