Yes, too bad no one thought to make a worm that would create havoc on the Internet with the flaws that have been discovered in Linux/BSD. It's also too bad that every distro that fixes the same problem gets listed on the site linked to from your sig separately.
Is the reason that none of those vulns have a massive exploit because they're extremely difficult to find and even harder to exploit? Or is it because many of them are not even remotely exploitable?
Also, could another reason there are more advisories for the operating systems covered by the site be that many of the errors are the type of errors that go unfixed or un-mentioned by Microsoft if they get fixed?
You Decide!
Furthermore, for your Microsoft counts, are you including all third party software?
If you want a specific company to quit calling, you can still ask them to put your company phone number on their company specific DNC list. It is legally binding for them.
They're so advanced that they can't produce valid html. That's nice.
Would you consider my mozilla (galeon, whichever) browser to be some obsolescence I should let go of as well? How am I supposed to see their non-standard page on FreeBSD (or Linux, whichever). I have Macromedia's flashplayer plugin installed, but only the front page renders anything because it doesn't use any flash/mx. The second page merely comes up mostly blank with a picture at the bottom.
Oh I see, I should give up my obsolescent OS, too and switch to a more advanced OS like Windows XP so I can use Internet Explorer, right?
You're totally wrong. First of all, companies have no right to free speech. Secondly, since Verisign has a monopoly over the.com and.net TLDs, they do not have the same rights concerning certain things even when compared with other companies. Putting up SF was not an act of 'Free Speech' as you say, but rather a monopolistic abuse that was detrimental to many.
Let's assume that you watch Television. Would you like it if someone hijacked all of the unassigned channels and displayed whatever they wanted on those channels instead of what is normally on them (nothing)? Would you complain to your cable company if they rectified the situation by removing the hijacking and suing the hijacker?
That page is just as bad as any other flash page I've seen. They didn't even take the time to provide alt tags for their images. This is what the page looks like in lynx:
I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I was bored the other day and going through a JunkMail folder on an account with a whitelist, and saw a spam that told me it would let me remember 20x as much with 1/3rd studying, I would be able to read faster...etc, you get the drift. I replied to that message and later on that day, from another account with the same domain, I got another spam from them.
5.1-RELEASE isn't flaky really, but the stable release branch will probably come about at either 5.2 or 5.3, depending on what the FreeBSD team decides.
My workstation running 5.1 was up for 60 days no problem. Only reason it went down was because of the nvidia kernel module, which you probably wouldn't be using on a production machine anyway.
You may not be speaking of the Federal Do Not Call list, but they do not ask for the name to go with the phone number, rather they request that you have enter an email address so that they can email you. Also, you can call 1-888-382-1222 and it will add the phone number you called from without asking for other information.
But he notes that there are other ways to incriminate an innocent party: "Most Windows users will run any old attachment you send them, so if you want to implicate someone you can just send them a Trojan."
Is that a low blow, or is it just me? I mean, seriously, I used to use Windows before I became a convert to FreeBSD. I don't recall ever opening a trojan or any other executable file from anyone, whether I knew them or not.
well, since you can make an innocent party appear to be guilty, what's to say that the person that appears to be guilty isn't really an innocent that's been spoofed?
Who says that they're talking about Linux when they say open source? They could be talking about any flavor of BSD, or Plan9...or Windows if Microsoft Open Sourced their OS. All of the exclusion is affected by decisions the OS vendor/creators makes rather than by the government.
MudMaster and MudMaster 2000 are pretty good Win32 clients. Actually, I wish that MudMaster was available on Unix. It's basically a better version of tintin for the Windows console. MudMaster 2000 is a gui rewrite.
I'd guess that the 5% of Windows 2003 users that used to be Linux users are people that were primarily using Linux because it was free and that managed to get their hands on a pirated or otherwise free copy of Windows 2003 and decided to try it out.
It might've been a good idea for you to read the next three sentences after you finished reading that one:
But for the
particular task of replacing Unix, this problem is absent. Most
interface specifications are fixed by Unix compatibility. If each
contribution works with the rest of Unix, it will probably work
with the rest of GNU.
I know it's OT, but OpenBSD is probably running all of the services in the default install that you'll ever use.
It's already running a hardened Apache, Sendmail, and OpenSSH and has PF installed and ready to go. What else would you plan on using an OpenBSD box for?
Personally, I'd guess that those programs probably perform 90% of the functions that people use OpenBSD for.
Apparently they only have to update the list of people that they're not calling on a periodic basis, I think it's every three months. That's why it would take so long for you to quit getting calls after adding your number to the list. Since that's the way it is, it would be easy to keep the database working. You'd only need to update it once every three months.
Surprisingly, it appears that Bellsouth has upgraded their DNS servers to ignore the wildcard. It looks like they forced root servers to be delegate only.
I think the main problem with this is that somehow the telemarketers would find out about the automation and manage to have the entire list be declared invalid because of the fraudulent adding of numbers to it.
There was a followup post where the originator of the thread stated that he actually only compiled KDEBASE and KDELIBS...not the entire KDE setup. So no, unfortunately the G5s don't bring us 10x the performance just yet:)

Actually, doesn't the software circumvent itself on Linux and MacOS by not being able to run natively? Maybe SunnComm should sue themselves!

Now how is that good design? They should've spent a little extra after the flash courses to learn a little html.

or d) avoid using a 'service' that considers you to be a threat to national security because your belt buckle is made of a magnetic metal.
Since both Verisign and ICANN qualify as enemies, does that mean that they're both our friends??

The camel part is actually a mistranslation from the original tome.
It should be rope, but apparently the words for camel and rope are very similar in Hebrew.

*** ns.asm.bellsouth.net can't find sdflkjsdflkjasdlkfjsdflj.com: Non-existent host/domain
I personally didn't do anything, and BellSouth fixed lookups fairly soon after I heard about the problem.
I was actually impressed that they fixed it at all, much less so soon.
ahhh but, if you googlefight "sco sucks" and "verisign sucks", you get "sco sucks" (1880 results) versus "verisign sucks" (876 results).
Therefore, SCO sucks more! (for now)
One question. How are we supposed to vote him out of office when the people that control the voting machines are on his side?
