Windows Update is not a reason to keep IE around, I work in an office that has gone to Firefox only browsing to prevent the computers from being filled with adware and spyware and let me too you it has helped 1000%. We use to have to keep IE as an option for Windows Update but now with Automatic Update, Windows XP handles all the downloading and updating without IE or those nasty ActiveX extensions. Seriously Firefox and Windows automatic update has saved well over 100 hours of tech support at work.
I wonder if anyone has lost their job because of Firefox? Downsizing the IT department because there are so many less adware and spyware related calls?
One thing to watch out for is wireless keyboards, i had a problem with getting Gnoppix to load correctly because i could not select any options on the config due to a USB keyboard, Logitech was the brand.
I am sure that as more web enabled phones come out for more providers they will get the hint and do the same thing Sprint is doing, protecting their investments. I have a feeling if not this product line then in the next version they will.
Personally i think they target any microsoft software because they know it is crap and they can exploit it oh so easily.
Or if you are right we should just all make our own browsers and the world will be a happy place again.
