This technology is very easily fooled anyway... so long as you know about it. Just move the cursor around a bit with your mouse as you type. For example, if your credit card is 12345678, type 18 then set the cursor between the 1 and the 8 and type 34567 then set the cursor before the 3 and type 2. It looks like you typed 18345672.

And if you're being a political rabble rouser you can type "Bush is a wally" so that it looks like "wish us a Bally".

The line between high intelligence and madness is pretty thin and most likely some IT guy will think the computer has just gone mad and unplug it.

That also raises the possibility that a super intelligent computer has already been programmed.... but someone thought it was a bug and fixed it!

This is not just a Win9x thing. It also impacts WinXP, and likely Vista (not that I'd admit to running Vista).

EXPLORER.EXE runs the desktop view and seems to share some DLLs etc with IE. If IE hangs in certain ways it seems to hang EXXPLORER.EXE too. THis can only be resolved by a reboot (which cannot be launced via software because EXPLORER.EXE is hung). The only solution seems to be a hard reboot.

  12. Arguing about patents won't change them on NetApp Hits Sun With Patent Infringement Lawsuit · · Score: 4, Insightful
any more than complaining about gravity will make it go away. We have a broken patent system which is driven by the practitioners of the patent system for the benefit of those practitioners. In other words, those who have the power to change the system are the most likely to lose from any changes so there is very little motiovation to make any changes. We could go on about how bad the system is, but that is irrelevant in the courts. That a law is stupid is unfortunately not a valid defence.

The only thing that matters here is whether prior art can be forund for WAFL.
