    why not just measure your write speeds, keep an average, and limit the read speed to no more than 150% or your read buffer to 1.5 seconds worth of write speed.

    Ahh but that doesnt work in a layered structured system, unless you had IO feedback to the reader to tell it to slow down.

    If you do your own read io, write io loops its harder for the OS to know, but if you had an OS function like Windows has to CopyFile from src to dst in one function call. Then the OS can do it, but in linux, well, where is the copy file api ? There is none.

    Theres too many non-connected seperate layers in linux, its time for linux kernel to start growing to linux-clib, linux-x11, linux-io.

    Linux to rely on gnu or gnome or 3rd parties is not good enough for the future of it, when Google is redefining linux by adding its missing parts for Android/ChromOS.

    There are probably 10 different ways to copy a file in linux, none use the same api. All probably have their different speeds and bugs.

    I have a 285mb video i copied to the iPhone, how do I easily without some shit crud http method, transfer that file to the iPad? Or use the iPad as a 2nd screen and play the video on the iPhone to the iPad like AirPlay?

    IOS sharing of files or data between apps without the internet, is impossible. About the only data type allowed is photos, because they have to let any photo app load and edit photos. Where is the my docs folder, or my files that any app can access.

    Touch screen is only an input that generates a realtime buffer matrix with values, kind of like a digital camera has a matrix of values.

    The rest is software to smartly figure out drags/presses etc.. and convert those to high level messages in the OS.

    The code in size wouldnt be more than ONE percent of all code.

    Your statement is like saying a serial mouse is a core feature of windows, its so embeded in it.

    Only the Amiga had mouse input at all levels of the OS , even before the OS booted, since it was just a simple 60hz interrupt reading values from a serial port, but always there.

    Having said that, Linux really needs a better process monitor like resource monitor that isnt shit.

    I have had very little need for many native windows apps. I dont mind sticking to 100% scale level, and hate upscaling.

    And btw, you can replace application resource icons/bitmaps, so you could hack an app to use larger bitmaps if they dont scale, by replacing the bitmaps to create a high dpi only app.

    Then again the authors could do this with a days effort , but they are lazy fucks, who cant even afford high dpi screens for their devs.

    So if your fav app doesnt scale, EMAIL THEM and ask for the feature.
