    That was confusing to read.

    But heres why telcos like contracts, its make it easy for them to predict earnings for their quarterly reports and projections etc...

    Heres why contracts suck to the consumer (unless its a business plan), they cost more and all phones suck after 18-24 months. No flexibility in jumping ship if need be.

    Btw, all voice rates are 10x to 50x the price they should be at compared to 3G data rates.

    anyway you can make your own opensource phone, just get a 30 dollar mobile module board,
    build your own mini linux/arm controller board, and use an existing older crappy phone for a case/lcd module.

    The problem is too many old school grey hair managers stuck in the 80s thinking.

    The day a carrier gives me free unlimited sms (max 2000/mo non-commercial) and also unlimited voice to all carrier mobiles+local + LD to 20 countries for a fixed rate of $20/mo including 1gig of data I will finally see happiness.

    Remove ALL GUIs that use traditional windows/dialogs/menus and make them all like PVR OSD menus that
    are easy to use, look pretty and most of call can be accessed by a remote control or touch screen easily.
    Use overlays with transparency for status bars/widgets/addons.

    To all those speed geeks, if a background task takes 4:03hrs vs 3:59hrs, who cares, really who cares.
    But If I have to endure 4hrs of sluggish gui and windows taking 500ms longer to appear, then that is crap.

    This aint 1987 any more, wakeup and smell the grando.

    The current window, focus of my pointer should always be higher priority than any background task on desktops.

    Btw when will we get a dual cpu usage Firefox, so all plugins are in one core, and the main firefox in the other, so no damn
    stupid flash plugin or high speed JS can ever take down firefox GUI/menus/keys. FF should always respond no matter if a plugin
    does while(1);
