  1. Outside of North America, FedEx and UPS are bit players - everyone uses DHL if they want to mean anything

You made me curious. According to the numbers I could find, FedEx International ships about twice as many packages as DHL.

I do not think you would find resistance from the military if you organized a million man march %%%% bent on tearing the white house apart with torches rifles and grenades.

Perhaps not the military, since their mission is not domestic peacekeeping or law enforcement, but certainly police and if it really were a million people the national guard. Depending on how close they actually got to the White House, the Secret Service, and make no mistake about it, those guys are willing to shoot to kill to protect the President. Though I'm guessing he would be in Marine One and out of there long before a mob reached the White House.

Newsprint world wide takes about 1 Billion trees per year. That would greatly improve sustainability of the environment to reduce paper demands.

Not really; almost all of those trees were grown specifically to be made into paper. Reduce the demand for paper, and you reduce the number of trees. Whether that would be good or bad depends on what would be done with that land instead of growing trees.

I'm guessing several commenters read the headline and commented without reading the summary, or somehow read the summary and still came away thinking "print" in this context means written words. Several people have made comments to the effect of "if the newspapers didn't suck so much they wouldn't be in trouble", which as you say makes no sense in the context of this story.

Maybe if the print media kept a more just the news stance and made even a small attempt to keep opinions in the editorial sections they might be doing better.

That problem has nothing to do with the success or failure of the physical print side of the newspaper (which is what this story is about), as the same words are on the web site.

Some are, some aren't. I recently saw a video about someone who got a MRSA infection because a nurse didn't wash her hands. Apparently doctors tend to be pretty bad about washing hands in hospitals, though there's been a push for better hand washing or at a minimum disinfecting.

I think those people are absolutely foolish though, as if what they believed (diversity of skin color or gender being important for its own sake) were true

Some people believe that, but I think (hope) the more prevalent view is that since our society treats people of difference genders and skin colors differently, those people will have different experiences. Thus gender and race become a proxy for more underlying types of diversity. If everyone were truly treated alike regardless of sex, race, or sexual orientation, those would no longer be useful proxies for real diversity, but sadly we're a long way from that.
