  1. On the other hand, there's no expectation that every year hardware features should vanish and that the phones should be able to do less with every release.

It's really weird. Seems likely to be one of two things: not enough customers care about those features, or there aren't enough competitors in the market and they're colluding, either explicitly or implicitly, to remove features (thus reducing costs) but not drop prices accordingly. I say that since the flagship phones are - if I'm not mistaken - more expensive in real dollars than they have been in the recent past, which is weird for electronics.

(plastic can look fabulous if you texture it right, or go premium and do leather, or put a texture on your metal, or ANYTHING that allows someone to actually hold your phone!

Ceramic! Someone made a video of trying to scratch the ceramic case of a phone and failing, using everything up to and including a power drill. I don't know how slippery it is though.

How about an FM receiver? Didn't someone put one of those in a phone recently?

The court martial. The death penalty. The power of impeachment.

Courts martial are for members of the military, so that isn't applicable. I have no idea how you think Congress is supposed to use "the death penalty" against an official in the executive branch. And as I said, impeachment or deleting the position entirely are the only tools available to Congress.

And if you're not going to do that, then... get rid of the power to impeach.

I don't see how that would improve the situation.

I'm not anti-tech to the point of living in a cabin and abusing postal mail, but I do think for many, many purposes, a terminal-based application running off a dedicated host (or cluster of hosts) provides a company with a far more efficient, both in direct & indirect costs, system to accomplish a business goal than all these multi-purpose general-purpose GUI desktop OS's.

That sounds right on for businesses (or business units) that are more or less doing predictable things that don't change a whole lot, which I assume (despite all the buzzwords) is a lot of businesses. For someone doing a wide variety of tasks, or unpredictable tasks, or tasks that change fairly frequently, a general purpose computer may be beneficial and/or necessary. I know you added the qualifiers - I'm not disagreeing with you, just expanding.

That's only 51 feet per second (a ridiculously high speed for a skateboard btw), so it would be a very small difference. Interesting math question though, I feel like there's a simple trick to it that isn't obvious. He'll be 1020 feet away when the bullet is fired, but by the time the bullet has traveled 1020 feet, he will have gone another x feet, and so on. It looks like a calculus problem but it seems like there would be an easier way to solve it. That is assuming the bullet travels at a constant speed. The slowing of the bullet would add even more complication.
